Introducing Smart Turnout

Smart Turnout is a British company created for clothing and accessories catering to regiments, schools and universities. The founder Edward Shawcross thought about it in 1992, right about the end of his British Army career. He was at the Sandown Race that year wearing a jumper that he made himself featuring the colors of his regiment, Scots Guards. He received compliments for his jumper which inspired him to create a small range of products featuring other colors of regiments.

The inspiration has grown into more than 70 regiments and 30 schools in UK which has successfully expanded in the US market. The range of products include silk ties, cufflinks, watchbands, socks and scarves.

Five Four NY Giants 150 Limited Edition Ties

150 limited edition ties for the NY Giants were released by Five Four. The ties were awarded to the Giants during the ESPY’s and training camp. Made out of 100% Indian silk and hand sewn to perfection.

They’re not available for sale but hey, it wouldn’t hurt to look at one, eh?.

Sovereign Beck Ties For Summer ‘08

DETAILS On Skinny Ties | Yay or Nay??

DETAILS is calling for the end of skinny ties. Frankly, they’re tired of the Skinny, narrow, slender, however you want to call them. Why? Well, because everybody is wearing it. I guess I could understand the reason behind it. Kinda like when that chick whom we shall call Sienna Miller started the damn leggings underneath “everything” trend. Now everyone is doing it. Lindsay Lohan can’t stop. But then again, comparing Skinny Ties with the Hollywood Starlets’ sickeningly obsession with leggings(the footless kind) is a little over the top. Not everyone looks good in leggings but some Men look good sporting their skinny ties on. Like Chase Crawford.

DETAILS wrote an interesting piece about the end of skinny ties. Interestingly enough, the magazine’s Jan/Feb issue’s cover was High School Musical Heartrob Zac Efron and he was wearing a skinny tie with his black on black ensemble. Hmmmm….

What’s my take on the down with the skinny ties campaign? I’m in between. Whatever makes you feel good. Skinny Ties are harmless compare to all the obnoxiously avant-garde clothes those huge designers showcase at the Fashion Week Runways that they expect you to wear in your everyday life. Know what I mean?

I like this Psycho Bunny Striped Paisley Tie in burgundy. The combination of blue floral print and gold tones mixed into the burgundy surely stepped out of the normal stripes or solid collars. I dunno, I just like it, do you? Buy it here.

Men’s Fashion Don’ts List From DETAILS Men’s Style Manual

To save time, I’ve decided to just give you ALL the Men’s Fashion Dont’s, list-style, that the DETAILS Men’s Style Manual pointed out in the book. I’ve compiled them all here in one huge list, separated in different categories. Print it, nail it to the wall as a guide or a reminder of what not to wear or what shouldn’t be done in the world of Men’s Fashion and Styling, according to DETAILS.

DRESS SHIRTS
Don’t unbutton your shirt too far.
Don’t wear denim shirts.
Don’t overpower yourself
Don’t just pick out the shirts you like — have a solid rotation in mind

PANTS
Don’t wear too tight pants.
Don’t do plaid.
Don’t wear suspenders.

BLAZERS
Don’t do too busy.
Don’t hold on(*buy a new one once it’s frayed and faded).
Don’t flip your collar indoors.
Don’t wear leather blazers.

NECKTIES
Don’t wear a giant knot.
Don’t get too loose or too messy.

SUITS
Don’t wear suits with too many buttons.
Don’t settle for bad fit.
Don’t go shiny.
Don’t buy cheap suits.

TUXEDOS
Don’t overdo it(*stick to basic formula).
Don’t wear colored tuxedos.
Don’t go too small.
Don’t try to bring back lost styles.

JEANS

Don’t wear t-shirts with logos or slogans (*I DISAGREE, heh. I understand some slogans should be left alone, however, some are witty and there’s nothing wrong with being casual at all.)
Don’t tuck a t-shirt into jeans.
Don’t roll.

SWEATERS (*please please pelase)
Don’t wear the Cosby sweater.
Don’t wear the Christmas sweater.
Don’t wear the ski sweater.

JACKETS
Don’t wear leather bomber jackets.
Don’t wear an outer layer that is shorter than your inner layer.

UNDERWEAR
Don’t expose your underwear.
Don’t get too cute with your underwear(*boxers with iron-on tweetie bird for example).
Don’t wear tank tops as shirts.

SHOES
Don’t wear flip-flops with suits.
Don’t wear square-toe shoes.

If you’ve noticed from this comprehensive list, I added some notes and made a comment on Casual shirts with slogans. She Knows Best doesn’t mind those. Neither should you. As long as you’re not wearing something that says “I *heart* My Weiner or anything to proclaim how much you love yourself or how much you think you’re HOT for that matter, you should be fine.

I’ve never attempted to tie a bow tie. The process just sounded all too complicated to me. I’ve just been admiring the glamorous Hollywood Stylish Men, like George Clooney when they paint the red carpet with stylish suits and a night of glamour during Awards season. Neckties Don’t Have To Be So Dreadfully Boring

Father’s Day is officially over. I hope you didn’t get the proverbial gift, the dreaded neckties. But if you did, I hope you got some from a funky company called CYBEROPTIX. I was browsing around their online shop and I must say, I’m digging their creative one of a kind designs. Here is a little bit of info about Cyberoptix and their neckties:

Each tie is handmade of the finest and some of the most unusual materials..

Each necktie is hand-silkscreened onto a 100% charmeuse silk or microfiber tie; the microfiber is a rich, soft fabric resembling silk. Charmeuse silk is a much more expensive and elegant soft silk, smooth with a slight sheen to it. Silk ties should only be dry-cleaned, never washed! The microfiber can be gently spot or hand washed and dried flat as the screenprinted design is heat-set for durability. Dry-cleaning is still recommeded for all ties to increase their lifespan.

If you like Nautical designs, this Clipper Ship line is for you. Intricately engraved sails across the bottom of the ties.

And here’s Something Fishy for the Fall .

This Skull + Bones line is actaully from Winter 2006 but being married to a rocker, this skull and bones designs didn’t escape my prodding eyes. The graphic is particularly small but it’s printed higher so it’s very much visible to anyone you want to impress .
