Not every Men enjoy or even know how to buy colognes. Most of the time, a salesperson will approach a guy and just to get rid of the poor lad or because you don’t really understand the differences of scents you just buy it. Then you get home and start feeling the quintessential buyer’s remorse. DETAILSand She Knows Best has once again come to the rescue with the Ultimate Guide In Buying Colognes. Stick around while I go through all of them with you. Hopefully you’ll be able to decipher your signature scent after reading this then be confident the next time you see that salesperson walking towards you to spray you with something ….

CATEGORIES : Citrus, Green and Spicy
Citrus — This includes scents under lemon or tangerine. If you prefer a fresh-from-the-shower smell, stick to the Citrus scent. Examples : Armani Acqua di Gio and Ralph Lauren Polo Blue

Green — This is more on the sweet side. Examples : Marc Jacobs for Men(figs) and Chanel Allure Homme(anise),

Spicy — A leathery archetypal scent. Examples : Old Spice and Obsession For Men.

NARROW YOUR OPTIONS
The way you dress and even skin tone affects the way you want to smell. If you’re the jeans and old sneakers type, go for the Citrus scent. A spicy fragrance on the other hand will fit a sporty and easygoing kind of guy. A spicier scent for a pinstripes and brogues type. A closet filled with Dior Homme and Jil Sander should opt for the Green fragrance. As for complexion, if you’re the whitest guy in the planet, pick the Citrus or Green scents.

TRY THEM ON
A spray on each wrist or in the crook of each elbow wouldn’t hurt. No actually, it’s a good idea to do that scent testing. You don’t want to go home with a $200 milliliter bottle of fragrance without knowing how it smells. Or whether you could stand it.

WAIT
15 minutes is what you need for the scent to kick in and react with your skin.

PUT DOWN YOUR CREDIT CARD
A well-made cologne could charge you between $150 and $200. Inexpensive colognes are being sold in mass quantities because they’re not that complex to produce. Something more expensive than $200 is rarely worth it. Even with ingredients like vetiver, iris, and jasmine.

There you go. I hope you all learned something. I know I did.

Avoid drinking the night before and potential strong smelling (onion & garlic heavy) foods.

Bad Breath, bring some mints, odds are you will be in close quarters for at least 30min with these people and nobody wants to smell funk for that long.

A firm grip, be sure to look the person in the eyes (This speaks to your level of confidence and try not to shy away), no dead fishes, bone-crushers or the dreaded premature gripper, you know who you are.

For the guys, shave, be clean cut (random nose/ear hairs), and if you have long hair, trim it up a bit.

For the ladies, tone down the makeup, file down the nails and please no bright colors on them.

And they included She Knows Best’s pick for inexpensive suits. Cool huh? Giving flowers to the woman you love shouldn’t just be limited during Valentine’s Day, her birthday, or an anniversary. Surprise her with flowers any day, no occasion necessary, just because. That’s exactly what my husband did for me last Friday. I was watching some tabloid-TV when I heard him enter the door, he asked me a question so I turned around and there were 3 beautiful pink roses staring at me. AWWWWWW.
AWWWWWW. What makes it so special was, it was a surprise, we weren’t celebrating any particular event, and just because he loves me and he knew I would love them. So don’t wait for the next occasion that you probably don’t remember what for anyway, hah, or the hustle and bustle of the ever-so commercialized Valentine’s Day. You don’t have to go to an expensive flower shop. You can buy these beautiful bunches of flowers pretty much anywhere. Like your nearest grocery store or a convenient/gas station store that you always pass by on your drive home from work. Trust me, your wife/gf would appreciate the thought and gesture. Major brownie points, I assure you .

According to the experts at DETAILS, if you pair it with a banker-style shirt, add a dark tie with gold-tie bar, then finishing it off with a tailored jacket detailed with a square patterned pocket and you’ve come up with a modern twist for a suit. Not too shabby.

What I love most about this job is getting feedbacks and inquiries from our very stylish readers. Whoever said Men don’t care about how they look was obviously lying to their teeth . I wrote about the guides of choosing the right necklace prompted by a reader’s question now I’m delving into the shoes for dressy shorts issue. After reading the e-mail I wanted to write about it right away but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one with the same ideas so I did a little bit of research. Sharpman.com wrote exactly what I had in mind :

Depending on the color, a sneaker or sandal is your best choice with dress shorts. Clean, white-based sneakers will work with any color, as long as you’re trying to dress down your outfit for a very casual look. Of course, the event to which you will be wearing the shoes will determine whether your sneakers are appropriate. For example, a stroll through the park is sneaker-appropriate, while a dinner date is not. To dress up your shorts, try a dress (not athletic) sandal. Again, the black and brown color rules apply. Khaki-colored shorts and a black or gray T-shirt should ideally be paired with a black sandal, while any other color shirt will work with a brown sandal.

Shorts-and-shoes don’ts. Avoid boots, loafers or any other footwear besides sneakers and sandals with shorts. Avoid wearing socks with your sandals. Enough said.

Let me reiterate the last part : Avoid wearing socks with your sandals.

One of the reasons why the reader asked SKB’s advice regarding this matter is because he wants to be able to wear dressy shorts in Church as well. Personally, I would prefer nobody wear shorts to Church. But this is just me. Reading the quote above maybe will make you feel comfortable donning shorts to Church. But if it’s my husband doing that, I’ll tell him to go change right away .

Keep those questions coming and I’ll try my best to help you guys out. Thanks .
