5 Things To Do For Mother’s Day?

Did you notice how I said, “5 Things to do for Mother’s Day?” instead of “5 Things To Buy for Mother’s Day?”. I for one am not interested in material things on special occasions like Mother’s Day. Sure getting a shiny ring, necklace, or bracelet is nice. I’m not going to be a hypocrite here. However, special gifts where it doesn’t involve charging a credit card or spending cash are so much better in my opinion.

Here are 5 Things To Do For Mother’s Day that doesn’t involve too much money that I hope you’d consider doing for the Mother of your children/child.

5 Things To Do On Mother's Day

Cook Her Breakfast — and try not to burn the kitchen down. Eggs, bacon, ‘Taters, and if you want to go all out, pancakes too. Make sure you and the kids clean up all the mess too.

Homemade Cards — gather up the kids a few days before Mother’s Day and spend some time doing crafty stuff for Mommy. You can buy materials from the Dollar Stores so everything should be affordable.

Watch DVDs — suck it up and rent her favorite tear-jerker or chick flicks. For one day, join her in the couch to watch a romantic-comedy movie starring Matthew McConaughey, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, or Owen Wilson. Their movies are actually good if you ignore the fact that your wife is drooling over them, respectively. No disrespect towards you and your marriage of course. She just appreciates good looking Men and YOU are on top of her list since she married you after all.

Write Her A Song or Poem — this is always a hit. If you know how to play a guitar, then by all means go for it. A nice poem stating how much you love her and how much you appreciate everything she does to be the best Mom she can be would melt her heart out. Involve the kids if you want to as well. This would probably work on any special occasions.

Pamper Her — you can do this without having to send her to a spa. With how the economy is, I’m sure she’ll understand if her pampering is done at home. Prepare her bath, then hand her a glass of wine and whatever book she is currently reading. Make sure to tell the kids not to disturb Mom in her time alone time. A peaceful bath without anyone knocking on the door asking for something is ALWAYS appreciated. Afterwards, give her a back and foot massages. Hey, you might as well

MAXIM #19

NO GRANNY SHOTS.

For the uninitiated: the granny shot is when you scoop the basketball with both hands, hold it between your squatting legs, then toss it in the air the way you might heave a microwave. It’s undignified. It’s unseemly. It looks like You’ve never even watched the game of basketball, much less played it.

It’s unacceptable. This doesn’t mean that you have to shoot a Steve Nash — like 90 percent from the charity stripe. But you need the basics. Shooting a basketball is Guy 101. Similarly, you must demonstrate proficiency — even if it’s just rudimentary — for the following:

Tackle. The metaphor’s sort of painfully obvious, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Tackling shows that you can meet a problem squarely, unafraid to get hurt or get dirty. The guy who refuses to tackle is the guy who ducks a fight, dodges the draft, and skips his alimony.

Run a mile. You’re allowed to huff and puff. And you don’t have to run the 40 in 4.3 seconds. But at the very least, you must be able to jog a mile without looking like Chunk from Goonies.

Do a pull-up. If Linda Hamilton can do several pull-ups in T2, you should at the very least be able to do one. Palms out, straight waist, no bucking.

Throw a baseball. You’ll never outgrow this. Long after those sunny days at Little League, you’ll still be faced with company picnics and afternoon dates. Even if you despise the game of baseball, it’s your contractual duty to teach this to your son. If you don’t do it for you, do it for him. Same goes for throwing a tight spiral.

Swim. It’s not necessary to be Michael Phelps, but if you can’t even tread water, you risk getting saved from drowning by a woman or a child. Consider staying underwater.

The Bachelor Finale, Would You?

If you don’t watch ABC’s The Bachelor then you’re probably asking, “Would I what?”. Before I explain my question, let me just say first hand that I don’t watch The Bachelor either. I find it insulting and highly degrading that Women would subject themselves shame just to find a guy. And these Women aren’t the kind of desperate whory Women you’ll find from Bret Michaels’ Rock of Love. The Women from The Bachelor all look decent, intelligent and professionals. But for some reason they think it’s ok to go on a reality show to find a husband. Anyway, I only found out what happened on the show last night because Elizabeth from The View spent about 20 minutes painfully reliving the nightmare that was The Bachelor finale.

Apparently, The Bachelor’s decision was controversial. See, Jason Mesnick dumped the girl named Molly for the girl named Melissa. But wait, during the finale reunion, he changed his mind, dumped Melissa, and then went back to Molly. Oh My Gosh! I know that there are still a few Men out there who act like dogs but I don’t know anyone who would do it on national TV for millions to see. And to think this Bachelor is a Father. Being a Single Dad was the major factor of the show. The Women were all just itching to be the stepmother of the little boy.

Now if you are a Man reading this, my question is, would you dump a girl (cry your heart out about how much it hurts to do so) for another girl, and then dump that girl to go back to the other girl?

If you are a woman, would you accept the proposal after you were already dumped and humiliated?

I could go on and and on about what a jerk this Jason Mesnick is but the show had women who wanted to be his “wife”. They said Love is blind, but come on now. There are also the things called brains, decency, self-esteem, self-respect and oooh I don’t know, match.com or eharmony.com.

Having said all that, I have a conspiracy theory going on in my head. What if it wasn’t The Bachelor’s decision to go this way? What if ABC instructed him to dump Molly, pick Mellisa, then dump her and then pick Molly? It’s a twist for the TV ratings my friends. The show needed a MAJOR ta-daaaah moment to keep the viewers glued on TV.

This will then make Melissa, the next Bachelorette who will find her own Man after being dumped on TV. It’s the best scenario for a the next season. Hey, I’m just saying.

Like I said, it’s a theory so please don’t sue me for libel, or whatever. I hope you enjoyed the “Womanizer’ video that a perturbed fan made and posted on YouTube .

Contrary to the old adage, Weddings are not just all about the Brides, respectively. Sorry ladies. Isn’t it interesting that Women (I swear I love you too) are always demanding equality in chores, finances, parenting or whatever responsibilities surrounds a relationship? But when it comes to finally walking down the aisle and making the commitment, Some Women go gaga over the “ceremony” instead of the union per se that they forget the reason why they’re planning a wedding in the first place.

Thanks to Grooms Online for making sure that Men are involved in all the preparations and planning. Just because a guy didn’t make a scrapbook of how he wanted his weeding to be when he was 10 years old doesn’t mean his opinions don’t matter in his own wedding.

Tuesday’s Joke : 1-2-3…………4

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a joke. It’s hard to find something funny out there these days. Heard, read and seen ‘em all before, yah know. But I figured I should at least make an effort to pst once in a while. I know you miss them so, hehe!

On my 60th birthday, I got a gift certificate from my wife. The certificate paid for a visit to a shaman living on a nearby reservation who was rumored to have a wonderful cure for erectile dysfunction.

After being persuaded, I drove to the reservation, handed my ticket to the shaman, and wondered what I was in for. The old man slowly, methodically produced a potion, handed it to me, and with a grip on my shoulder, warned, This is powerful medicine and it must be respected. You take only a teaspoonful and then say ‘1-2- 3.’ When you do that, you will be more potent than you have ever been in your life and you can perform as long as you want.’

I was encouraged. As he walked away, I turned and asked, ‘How do I stop the medicine from working?’

Your partner must say ‘1-2-3-4′ the shaman responded. But when she does, the medicine will not work again until the next full moon.

I was eager to see if it worked I went home, showered, shaved, took a spoonful of the medicine, and then invited my wife to join me in the bedroom. When she came in, I took off my clothes and said, ‘1-2-3!’

Immediately, I was the manliest of men.

My wife was excited and began throwing off her clothes. And then she asked, What was the 1-2-3 for?

And that, boys and girls, is why we should never end our sentences with a preposition.
