Jay Kos Spring 2010 Preview

Jay Kos, the purveyor of tailored and vibrant Menswear from New York Park Avenue has done it again with his Spring 2010 collection. To start it off, Jay Kos has created deeply hued leather jeans that are trendless and would sure make everyone notice you as you walk down the street or into a room.

So if you are into leather and skinny jeans, those above might suit your lifestyle. The pictures below are some of the collection set to roll out in Spring 2010.

It seems Fedoras are going to be staple items on Men’s Fashion no matter what season it is. As well they should because they as nice accessories for any Men these days. Check out the shoes. When they said “pop” of color, Jay Kos took it to a higher level. I’m partial to the purple and white colors myself. How about you?

How To Pull Off A Polo Shirt This Fall

Polo shirt is commonly worn during the Summer. It’s a refreshingly cool shirt to beat the heat wave. It’s a stylish shirt for casual days with shorts, cargos, and jeans. Some would even wear it with maybe white pants just to look cool and crisp to match the summer weather. Polo shirt is also the go-to shirt for golfing for Men who loves to play gold of course. So maybe we can conclude that a polo shirt is a summer shirt. However, it could also work for Fall. If you carefully pair the polo shirt with a few Fall key pieces, it will definitely work and pull off a stylish look to compliment the Fall weather.

I’m using a Polo Ralph Lauren polo shirt as our basis here. Don’t be afraid to wear a blazer over the polo shirt. The darker the denim jeans, the better. If you want to wear a lighter color like this tan brown Lauren Ralph Lauren corduroy blazer then that’s good too. Tucked in or not? It depends on your comfort level or the time of the day. The blazer I used here is from John Varvatos. Lace-ups for footwear would be much preferred to give it that really “pulled together” look.

Another great example is by wearing this waister twill jacket from Kenneth Cole ($158) over the polo shirt. This one is a more laid back look with jeans that could also work as a travel look if paired with light brown pants. A corduroy fabric or even denim would do. Just don’t pair the latter with denim jeans of course. The light brown pants would be much better. the trick is the length of the jacket. Around the waist or top of the hip are the ideal lengths. In here you could get away with wearing a dark canvas sneakers like the classic Converse.

Another idea that you might want to venture into is a sweater over the polo shirt look. This one is a little tricky because a sweater would look chic over a collared button shirt accessorized with a necktie but I’m not to sure about the regular polo shirt. I’ll do it with my son but I don’t know about grown man. I sure don’t sound confident, do I? I think at this point, you need to consider your comfort level and own style. If you like it, go for it. Just be aware of the color of the pants and the shoes you’re going to wear it with. In any case, a polo shirt will definitely work for Fall season.

H&M Men’s Autumn/Fall 2009

When you ask your wife or girlfriend today what’s happening at H&M this year, she’ll probably tell you that Jimmy Choo is bringing in some fabulous stuff this coming November. Us women are probably more focus on the Jimmy Choo shoes we’ll be getting in H&M price tag that we’ll totally ignore the fact that Jimmy Choo is also brining in a Men’s collection. But before we see what Jimmy Choo has to offer in Men’s line, let me show some of the H&M 2009 Autumn/Fall Looks to whet your curiousity.

As you can see, there’s a lot of black with pops of patterns and colors. The trim silhouette trend is very visible as well. I’m not uber-liking the tucked hem in boots styling but it probably depends on your taste. I am not at all sure about the last look either but I sure am loving the layering from all the other looks. I like the knitwear incorporated with the smart casual looks. Not to shabby H&M.

Trim Looks For Fall 2009

After perusing Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 RTW collection which features a trim and military-inspired looks, I am not surprised at all that trim silhouette is part of the top trends for Fall 2009. The streamlined, and structured look which exudes sexiness, clean, and “eye-on-the ball” kind of focus.

You can never go wrong with a classic cut of black blazer over a striped sweater from Armani Collezioni. The large chevron blazer has notched lapels with 2 front buttons.

Pardon my brassiness but I can see myself drooling over a Man wearing this Versace Pinstriped Suit and Spiral Striped Shirt. It’s clean, classic and oozing with sex appeal.

For casual options, D&G offers this colorblock sweater over a light gray shirt and power fit jeans. A definitely trimmed casual attire for a guy who means business no matter what day it is.

Gucci is not about be left behind with this Fall trend by featuring a skinny cardigan over a plaid shirt dress and regular-fit jeans outfit. Interestingly enough, it features some of the Fall trends I’ve already discussed here namely the plaid, and knitwear.

Knitwear Trend For Fall 2009

If you really think about it, knitwear is a usual choice to wear for comfort and warmth during the Fall season. Therefore I am really not surprised at all that Knitwear is part of the Fall 2009 trends. As far as I’m concerned, knitwear should always be part of any Fall list.

Rugby striped sweater for $225. Perfect to pair with jeans or dark grey trouser. It could go casual or smart casual for office wear.

Armani Collezioni is not about to be left behind by offering this striped ombre sweater for this fall trend. $295

Of course you can’t forget one of the basic fall accessories and that is a cardigan. Check this clan knit cardigan from Diesel. Hide it though coz it looks like your wife or girlfriend wouldn’t mind borrowing it from your closet to wear it herself. $220.

Last but not the least, a Vince Cashmere sweater. Wear it by itself or over a striped shirt. Either way this cashmere sweater will look good on anyone. $245.

I always go to Nordstrom to check what the store has compiled for different seasons. Of course I usually do it early on so I could share them with you too and hopefully could provide some tips and tricks before Fall finally makes its mark.

Introducing The Local Firm

If you live or happen to be visiting Sweden then you’ll appreciate this new fashion line called The Local Firm. A Swedish store is opening up soon while boutiques and some US stores will be stocked with the TLF collection sometime as well. I’ll share more information on that in the coming days.

The Local Firm was conceptualized using the 1920 Bauhaus movement as the collection’s inspiration. It’s “contrast of status” design features distinctive garments and materials to create and provide distinguishing contrast from one another.

Here are the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 Collection Preview. The latter’s collection is actually the 4th collection from The Local Firm’s designers.

All of these were from Designers Axel Nyhage and Richard Hutchinson. They’re mostly known from other brands namely Acne Jeans, Whyred and Tiger of Sweden. Prices of The Local Firm collection starts from $95 to $545. “The Local Firm”, the brand’s name sure sounds distinctive, and bold. If you look at the Fall collection, it has that clean, kind of preppy with an edge look. For some crazy reason, I am getting a style flashback of Christian Bale in the movie American Psycho. I’m just talking about the style vibe of course, not the premise of the movie. You know what I mean?
