Hot! Charlotte Olympia Maxine Sandals

I’m sure you saw those gorgeous pink and gold Christian Louboutin heels I showcased yesterday. Heck, I’m still drooling over them! Are you ready for more brightly coloured shoes?  I found another worthy selection and this time it’s from Charlotte Olympia.

If you’re not familiar with Charlotte Olympia, you should be because her line of shoes are truly one of a kind. In fact, each one is adorned with the company’s signature gold spider web on the sole. This is a similar branding technique that CL shoes have with the red soles. Clever marketing strategy or just fun decoration? Either way, they are lovely shoes.

The Charlotte Olympia Maxine Sandals ($825) are definitely a ‘going out’ kind of shoe. These are not meant to be worn on casual outings, unless of course that’s your style in which case, kudos to you! ;)

As you can see these are some seriously glam shoes. The combined colours, dark plum suede and metallic fuschia is a really playful way to incorporate this Fall’s it colour.  The heel is quite hight at 5.5″ inches but the platform island measures 1″ so technically they’re only 4.5″ heels. A cake walk for some!

What I really love about these shoes is the fun zipper fastening at the front. They’re similar in style to gladiator heels which are also a major trend.  If you love these you can purchase them at the Net-A-Porter website.

Summer Shoes That Will Work for Fall

Before you know it, the weather will start cooling down and with the change of season, we’ll start shopping for fall shoes. Out with the sandals and in with the boots!

In tough economic times, it’s silly to expect everyone to re-vamp their entire wardrobe every season. It’s just far too costly for most of us. Fortunately, several of the hot shoe trends from summertime will carry over to next season. To extend your wardrobe, check out these summer shoes that will work for fall.

Peep-toe Pumps
For the office, peep-toe pumps are a big hit. When fall rolls around, you can still show off your toes. The weather isn’t freezing in the autumn, so showing off your pedicure in a pretty pair of peep-toe pumps is still appropriate.

Cuffed Sandals
You know all those trendy sandals that are out there with the thick ankle cuff? Though I’m not a big fan, many women love these shoes. Well, you don’t have to put them away at the end of summer, cuff sandals will work well for fall. Wear them with your favorite fall dresses.

High Heel Gladiators
When the weather cools down, if you love your gladiators, you can still wear them. Instead of bare legs, wear gladiator sandals with a denim mini and tights for an edgy, hip look. Same thing holds true for studded sandals.

Anything Yellow
Did you stock up on yellow shoes this year? Yellow has definitely been the hottest color in fashion during 2009 and that will continue for fall. So don’t put away those yellow ballet flats…they are still a fabulous choice through the end of the year.

Of course, there are multitude of shoes that you can wear all year round, including open toe ankle boots, leopard print pumps, brightly colored evening sandals and kitten heeled mules. Whatever you wear, wear it with confidence!

For fall, we are going to see a lot of stilettos and skinny heels on every type of shoe imaginable, from booties to platforms. I like skinny heels a lot. They add some femininity to many of the menswear-inspired styles.

Recently, I learned about these Stuart Weitzman shoes for Fall 2009, which include an ankle boot and a gladiator sandal that you may like.

7 Summer Shoe Trends

April 30, 2009 by Kori Ellis
Filed under Sandals, Shopping for Shoes

As expected every year, this summer is all about sandals — high heeled strappy sandals, flat thong sandals and everything in between. So get your pedicure done and let’s go shopping! If you are looking to add some new shoes to your wardrobe, here are a some of the hottest summer trends.

Neutral Shoes
I have touched on it here in recent weeks, but neutral shoes in cream, beige and off-white are really trendy for spring and summer. They are a fabulous way to extend your wardrobe because you can wear them with almost anything.

Snakeskin Sandals
The exotic skins are in. Python sandals are at the forefront this season. But if you can’t afford to splurge a thousand bucks on genuine skin sandals (like the ones below), don’t fret. Many designers are offering faux skins that still look like a million bucks.

Hippie-Chic Shoes
Get into the Bohemian trend with shoes accented with fringe, beading and other hippie inspirations. Flat thong sandals embellished with beads and espadrille wedges are popular choices.

Gladitor Sandals
Though I’m not a fan, gladiator sandals are back this season in a big way. From flats to knee-high versions, gladiators are everywhere. If you love this trend, you certainly won’t find it difficult to find a pair.

Studded Shoes
Edgy shoes embellished with studs, rivets and zippers are getting lots of attention. If you like the rocker chic/biker chic trend, you’ll love the number of studded sandals and pumps on the shelves. But they don’t need to be dark and dreary, check out these colorful studded sandals from Sofft.

Ankle Cuffs
This is one trend that I don’t like at all. Instead of thin ankle straps, many shoe designers are going with the wide ankle cuffs instead. These cuffs aren’t a good choice for short women or those with thick ankles. They make you legs look short and stumpy.

Cut-out Booties
Booties aren’t just for cold weather, apparently. This year, many cutout booties are making their way into summer fashions. With open toes and cut out sides, these shoes can work well with warm weather clothing. Caged booties (like the ones pictured here) are also trendy.

Juicy Couture Lavish To-The-Knee Gladiator

April 22, 2009 by Kori Ellis

I love Juicy Couture’s cute charm bracelets and fun spring handbags. Their gladiator sandals? Not so much. In fact, these shoes are downright awful.

The Juicy Couture Lavish To-The-Knee gladiator sandals feature brown leather straps, an open toe and flat heel. They zip up the back for your convenience. As ugly as they look here, I’d imagine they will look even worse on your feet/legs.

I was so hoping that the gladiator sandal trend would fade away this year, but it’s back with a vengeance. My recommendation to you. Don’t wear these shoes under any circumstances. Well, unless you are going to a costume party … as a gladiator, of course.

These gladiator sandals are available at Neiman Marcus for $295. Yikes!

Ugly Shoe of the Week: Studded Gladiators

March 8, 2009 by Kori Ellis

I’m a big fan of Max Azria, but what the heck is this? I’m not fond of gladiator sandals in the first place but these shoes take things to whole other level of ugly.

The gladiator trend is hot again this season, and so are studded details. Throw them together, add a zipper up the front and you get one ugly pair of BCBGMAXAZRIA sandals.

Featuring brown pebbled leather and a mini wedge heel, I think these shoes are an atrocity. But if you love them, you can get them now at Saks Fifth Avenue for $225.

In case you can’t get enough of the style, they also made a heeled version (which is ever so slightly better looking) for $25 more.
