Inauguration Day

All eyes are on Washington, DC today for the Presidential Inauguration. It is indeed a special day in history as Barack Obama takes office.

Though critics might say the Inauguration involves too much hoopla and extravagance, I’m not too concerned with the costs of the celebration. One main reason for the high cost is for the security of those attending. With unprecedented numbers of people flocking to DC to be part of the event, of course more money is being spent.

Barack Obama - Michelle Obama

And though there are many who didn’t vote for Obama or don’t agree with his policies, it’s time to put that aside for today as Americans to come together to celebrate.

Hopefully the next four years will be successful ones for all of us.

On a lighter note, Barack Obama isn’t the only one in the spotlight today. Everyone will be watching Michelle Obama too – in particular what she is wearing.

I think Michelle’s wardrobe is pretty typical of most women. She wears an assortment of clothes from budget retailers, such as H&M, but also has some special designer pieces in her rotation.

Barack Obama & Family - Election Night

Though I wasn’t thrilled with her choice of the red and black Narciso Rodriguez dress (especially with the black cardigan) on Election Night, I’m sure Michelle will step up to the plate with something fantastic today.

And since this is Shoe Blitz, I guess we should mention her shoes. Michelle usually wears sensible pumps or boots with a medium heel. Though she’s tall, she isn’t afraid to wear high heels – even if they make her taller than Barack.

  1. What an amazing moment it was. So exciting! His daughters are so beautiful and elegant, too. I thought Michelle looked pretty good today. I wasn’t a fan of her Election Day outfit either.

I didn’t like that red and black number either. She looked very glamorous today, although I thought her dress was green until I read who she was wearing and found out it was gold. I also found out that I seriously need a new TV! I guess the color is going. :-)
