Feeling Blue? Get Beautiful Blue Shoes

Blue is probably the most underutilized color in shoes. We see plenty of pretty pinks, purple, red, yellow and orange, but not enough blue, in my opinion. However, I was thrilled to see some of the Resort Collections for 2010 are incorporating amazing shades of blue. Here are a few of my favorite blue shoes available at Neiman Marcus.

Rene Caovilla Karung Crystal Slide
Want to splurge on a pair of crystal sandals? Check out these blue Karung snakeskin slides accented with floral crystals across the vamp. These shoes have a 4-inch heel and come with an extra set of heel tips, which are always handy. These pretty sandals will cost you a pretty penny. They are priced at $1,230.

Christian Louboutin Double-Platform Knotted Mule
There’s something fun about this shade of turquoise blue. It’s like you know you are going to have a blast when you are wearing these shoes. These blue suede shoes feature a knotted detail over the peep-toe and an adjustable ankle strap. These Christian Louboutin platforms are priced at $895.

Dolce & Gabbana Denim Leopard-Print Pump
Denim isn’t just for jeans. These Dolce & Gabbana leopard-print pumps feature black spots on a blue denim background. These pretty pumps have a pointed toe and 3 1/2-inch stacked heel. You can get these Dolce & Gabbana pumps at Nordstrom for $550.

Fashion Week Spring 2010: Duckie Brown

Though we don’t talk that much about men’s shoes here at Shoe Blitz, we have to make an exception for the shoes on the runway at the Duckie Brown show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York this week.

The Duckie Brown Spring 2010 collection was very well received at Bryant Park. But what do you think about these shoes?

Blue is a certainly a hot color for spring and a great way to add a burst of color to a neutral outfit. However, I’m not sure these will translate well from the runway to the city streets. The bold, eye-catching suede lace-up shoes (which you also can see below in yellow) are part of the ongoing Florsheim by Duckie Brown footwear collaboration.

Dior Maya Straw-Heel Pump

For Spring, I’m seeing a lot of interestingly heeled shoes, including cork, lucite and other materials. Here’s a pump from Dior that also fits the bill.

Featuring blue leather and cream topstitching, this peeptoe pump has a woven straw heel that sits on a goldtone pedestal. These are definitely unique but I’m not sure if they are attractive.

What do you think? Are these pumps pretty? Would you buy them? (Ignore the fact they are over $1,100.)

Meagan Good’s Fabulous Blue Pumps

At the MTV Movie Awards last weekend, Meagan Good wore fabulous blue pumps with her sexy silver dress. The bold color really worked well as a complement to the metallic.

It got me to thinking that blue (not navy, but real blue) might be the most underutilized color in shoes. This summer we are seeing a lot of yellow, orange, red, pink and even green, but not a lot of blue.

So, here are five of my favorite true blue shoes right now.

Stuart Weitzman Open Toe Pump

Over at Dandelion Feet, they always have very good sales going on. Today, you can get these adorable flats from the Marc by Marc Jacobs line.

These shoes feature a very cute black and white spotted pattern. The original price was $358. But you can buy them right now for $178. They only have a few sizes left – so get ‘em while you can!
