Givenchy & Giuseppe Zanotti for Halloween

As much as I love shoes, there are times when I find one (or a few) that just make me wonder what was running through the designer’s mind as they were creating it. I can appreciate an interesting shoe, don’t get me wrong. I just wonder if some designers design for specific clientèle or do they really think ‘real women’ would wear the crazy shoe designs they come up with in ‘real life’?

With that being said and since Halloween is around the corner, I thought I’d show you a couple pairs of shoes that remind me of Halloween costumes or at least would complement a few Halloween costumes.

Givenchy Urania Feather and Leather Sandals ($1150) Are you dressing up as a 1920’s flapper? If so, you might want to get a pair of these shoes. The combination of leather and feathers is pretty clever. Another costume idea for these shoes would be a showgirl or you can go as one of those daring Hollywood fashionistas. Victoria Beckham comes to mind when I think of these shoes too. Overall, these Givenchy sandals are pretty tame compared with the one I’ll talk about next…

Giuseppe Zanotti Swarovski Embellished Sandals ($1150) Now this is a Halloween shoe! This would be the shoes I picture some wicked witch or some other dark and devilish figure to wear. Maybe, a sexy vampire? These are made out of black satin and decorated all over with crystals, definitely a come look at me kind of shoe!

This season, we are seeing a lot of romantic, feminine fashions, from ruffled dresses to pintuck pleated tops. The girly girl look is definitely “in.” So, what shoes should you wear with these flirty fall fashions? Let’s take a look at some of the latest shoe trends.

Mary Janes
You can’t go wrong with a great pair of Mary Janes. You wear them from the office to Happy Hour without skipping a beat. These Chie Mihara Mary Jane shoes are a fabulous option. Peep-toe Booties
Don’t put away your nail polish just yet. Even for fall, you can show off your toes in peep-toe booties. Look for lace-up menswear-inspired booties with cut-outs like the LAMB Chiba booties. As you probably know, LAMB (like Harajuku Lovers) is one of Gwen Stefani’s lines. These camel and black booties have a platform sole and a 5-inch heel. Tweed is one of the beautiful textured fabrics that will be popular this fall. Look for tweed coats, tweed hats and of course, tweed shoes. Poetic Licence Kiss & Tell Pump

When I first glanced at these shoes, I thought to myself, “How gaudy!” Then I looked again and started to warm up to them. These Poetic Licence pumps are definitely “busy” with all their details. From the scalloped suede sides to the satin tie to the glossy heel, they aren’t short on romantic accents.

Poetic Licence shoes usually have some unique detailing and I have had mixed experiences with this brand in the past. With these shoes, I’m just unsure what I would possibly wear them with — especially in the turquoise blue color.
