Fashion Week: Ruthie Davis Platforms

Yesterday, I posted about the shoes and fashions at the Dennis Basso show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Were you wondering who created those fabulous platform shoes? Me too! That’s why I was so excited when I learned more about them.
In the Dennis Basso Spring 2010 show, there were a mix of purple, beige and metallic gold platforms with gem-encrusted heels. These custom-made shoes were created by Ruthie Davis. Ruthie is a very talented designer that has been making shoes for Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Alicia Keys as of late. You can learn more about Ruthie and her shoes at ruthiedavis.com.

Fashion Week Spring 2010: Dennis Basso

Though I’m not incredibly familiar with Dennis Basso, I loved his Spring 2010 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The beautiful ball gowns and party dresses with full skirts were so flirty, feminine and fun. I adored the flowing fabrics and one-shoulder designs.
Dennis Basso complemented his girly-girl fashions with open toe platform shoes. Some with ankle straps and some without, they were generally the same silhouette. For spring parties, you can’t go wrong with a platform pumps and sandals.
Let’s take a look at some of my favorite dresses (and the shoes) from the Dennis Basso Spring 2010 collection.

Ankle-Wrap Sandals at the Tracy Reese Show

With a wide assortment of floor-length gowns at some of the shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, it’s oftentimes hard to get a good look at the shoes. That’s one reason that I’m loving all the shorter dresses and even shorts that we are seeing in the Spring 2010 presentations.
On Monday, I fell in love with some beautiful, flirty, fun dresses from Tracy Reese. The collection included beautiful draping, vibrant color combinations and gorgeous prints. Somehow she managed to achieve a carefree and relaxed look that was fancy at the same time.
And of course, we can’t look at the dresses without …read more

Christian Siriano Payless on the Runway

Fashion designer and Project Runway winner Christian Siriano was a crowd favorite at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Saturday. In addition to his gorgeous dresses and other apparel, Siriano showcased his Spring 2010 footwear and accessories collection with Payless on the Runway.
Christian Siriano’s spring line is inspired by Mediterranean travel. The collection includes five shoe silhouettes and two accompanying handbags. They are dramatic and beautiful with textured tribal elements, fabulous prints and lots of glitzy details — like sequins.
Here we have a few pictures from the Christian Siriano Spring 2010 show at Fashion Week. If you are fan of the collection, …read more

Fashion Week Spring 2010: Duckie Brown

Though we don’t talk that much about men’s shoes here at Shoe Blitz, we have to make an exception for the shoes on the runway at the Duckie Brown show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York this week.
The Duckie Brown Spring 2010 collection was very well received at Bryant Park. But what do you think about these shoes?
Blue is a certainly a hot color for spring and a great way to add a burst of color to a neutral outfit. However, I’m not sure these will translate well from the runway to the city streets. The bold,  eye-catching suede …read more

Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2008 NYC

At Fashion Week in New York City, you could see everything from the exquisite to the outrageous to the .. well, just odd.
Let me start out by saying that Victoria Beckham AKA Posh Spice is probably a little too thin these days. Or maybe she just looks that way in contrast to her huge boobs.
Nevertheless, I wasn’t very thrilled with this skin-tight outfit she was wearing at the Marc Jacobs show, but the purple peep-toes are a nice touch.
And speaking of Marc Jacobs and shoes, this is from the “What the hell?” file.
The heels of these shoes are on the …read more
