Classic Black Pumps
These shoes should be your go-to heels when you want something simple and stylish. Choose a pair of classic black pumps in smooth leather with 2 1/2 to 3 inch heel.

Flirty Kitten Heels
Kitten heels have a flirty curve to them. They are low enough that they are comfy by still give you a little bit of lift. Kitten heels are usually only about an inch and a half high. Slingbacks are a great style to buy with a kitten heel.

Sky-High Stilettos
Tall, skinny heels are oh, so sexy. Sure, they aren’t great for your feet. But if you don’t wear them daily, you shouldn’t do that much damage. A glossy patent d’Orsay pump or a strappy sandal look great with a stiletto heel.

Chunky Heeled Sandals
Thick, chunky heels are more comfortable than their skinny counterparts because you distribute your weight over a larger area. Chunky heels work for the office, weekends or any time. One pair of chunky sandals with heels that are 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches are essential.

Wedge Espadrilles
Wedge heels have come in and out of style for decades. Right now, they are definitely in. You can find wedges on platform sandals, pretty pumps and number of other types of shoes. Grab a pair of wedge espadrilles to add some Boho-chic flavor to your look.

Heeled Oxfords
Last year these shoes became very popular and they certainly are office appropriate. They take the styling of a men’s oxford with a lace-up front and add a high heel for a feminine touch. Heeled oxfords come in every color and fabric imaginable, so you are sure to find something that fits your taste.

Snakeskin Pumps
Exotic skins are in and they are certainly nice for work if done right. Choose a snakeskin pump in brown, grey or green. These shoes will give a little texture and flavor to you look, while still maintaining your professionalism in the office.

Kitten Heels
You shouldn’t wear sky-high heels at the office. They just aren’t comfortable and don’t leave the best impression. Instead, stock up on kitten heels with a closed toe and slingback. These shoes are feminine and professional, plus also comfy too.

Flats
Flat shoes are a simple choice for the workplace. Though they don’t work well with a suit, you can wear them with slacks or a skirt. Flats in neutral colors (black, brown, grey and navy) are versatile, but don’t be afraid to experiment with color and shine occasionally. Red patent leather flats are a very nice option.

Ankle Boots
In the fall and winter, ankle boots can certainly make their way into your office wardrobe. Choose a pair with a chunky or wedge heel rather than stilettos, and they shouldn’t be higher than three inches.

Now that you know more about what to wear, you should also pay attention to what types of shoes aren’t appropriate. For a corporate office with a professional dress code, leave your sneakers, sandals (especially flip flops), super high heels and metallic shoes at home. Also check your company’s dress code. Some offices don’t allow for open backs or toes (even peeptoes).  Mary Janes are a nice choice for a preppy look, while embroidered mules and Boho espadrilles are great for Casual Fridays.

Whether sexy stiletto or a demure kitten heel, the styling is great.

You can pre-order these black leather Prada Vernice Taffetas Pumps (pictured to the right).  I like the simplicity of this style and the cute 1 1/2″ kitten heel. At $490.00 from Saks, these are definitely a luxury buy.

Another pricey option are these Ferragamo loafer pumps with a stacked heel. Good looking in their own right, but I’m not really loving them.

In the mid-price range, you will find these Anne Klein Loafer Pumps. The rich brown color is wonderful and the suede and patent contrast is very nice. They are smartly priced from SmartBargains.com at $79.97.

Also at SmartBargains, you will find this Michael Kors Carlyle Penny Loafer Pump. The front has the classic styling of a penny loafer, while the back is a hip, sexy stiletto heel. They come in both black and neutral. But with a price of $99.97, they have limited sizes left.

As a really affordable option, choose these Leather Loafer Pumps from Chadwick’s. At only $44.99, you really can’t miss.  The simple look pumps come in brown, black, navy and black patent.

By far, my favorite is the kitten heel. Popularized by the ever classy and fashionable Audrey Hepburn, the kitten heel has a feminine curve and is normally 1 1/2″ to 2″ high. You can find nearly every style of shoe – pumps, slingbacks, sandals, slides – with a kitten heel. They are oh so chic and just the right height that they can be worn with just about everything.

Mid Priced Option:

These Anne Klein peep-toe pumps come in a fabulous multi-color print as well as black suede and platinum leather. They are fun and come at a great price at $82.95 from Zappos.com.

Luxury Buy:

These black satin slides from the Manolo Blahnik fall collection are simply gorgeous with the rosette on the vamp and all the other detailing. You can get them from Neiman Marcus for $630.
