Feeling Blue? Get Beautiful Blue Shoes

Blue is probably the most underutilized color in shoes. We see plenty of pretty pinks, purple, red, yellow and orange, but not enough blue, in my opinion. However, I was thrilled to see some of the Resort Collections for 2010 are incorporating amazing shades of blue. Here are a few of my favorite blue shoes available at Neiman Marcus.

Want to splurge on a pair of crystal sandals? Check out these blue Karung snakeskin slides accented with floral crystals across the vamp. These shoes have a 4-inch heel and come with an extra set of heel tips, which are always handy. These pretty sandals will cost you a pretty penny. They are priced at $1,230.

Christian Louboutin Double-Platform Knotted Mule
There’s something fun about this shade of turquoise blue. It’s like you know you are going to have a blast when you are wearing these shoes. These blue suede shoes feature a knotted detail over the peep-toe and an adjustable ankle strap. These Christian Louboutin platforms are priced at $895.

Dolce & Gabbana Denim Leopard-Print Pump

Fashion Week Spring 2010: Duckie Brown

Though we don’t talk that much about men’s shoes here at Shoe Blitz, we have to make an exception for the shoes on the runway at the Duckie Brown show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York this week.

The Duckie Brown Spring 2010 collection was very well received at Bryant Park. But what do you think about these shoes?

Blue is a certainly a hot color for spring and a great way to add a burst of color to a neutral outfit. However, I’m not sure these will translate well from the runway to the city streets. The bold, eye-catching suede lace-up shoes (which you also can see below in yellow) are part of the ongoing Florsheim by Duckie Brown footwear collaboration.

I love the textures that are associated with fall fashion. From cashmere sweaters to wool coats and luxurious leather bags to (of course) suede shoes and boots. Today, let’s take a look at some of the sensational suede footwear available for fall.

Miu Miu Cage Platform Shoes

Last year, we started seeing a lot of “caged” sandals and booties. And this fall, it’s more of the same. I normally don’t love this style; they oftentimes look like they will kill your feet. But I discovered a caged platforms from Miu Miu at Neiman Marcus that caught my eye.

These suede shoes are available in baltico (navy) or nero (black). They have a zipper at the back of the heel. I’m still not sure that I’d like the look of these shoes when they were on my feet but they certainly look hot on the shelf.

What’s Your Favorite Fall Shoe Trend?

Let’s take a look at some of the hot shoe trends for fall. Of course, there will be suede boots, menswear-inspired oxfords and tons of grey, but here are some more of the latest shoe trends for fall.

Stay Nude
The nude and neutral colors that we saw in summer sandals will stick around in fall footwear as well. Look for beige, cream, taupe and other natural colors to blend into your fall wardrobe. These Valentino lace-up boots from Saks Fifth Avenue is a fab example. You can get these booties for $795.. The cutouts seen on these shoes are also very trendy for fall.

Rock On
Embrace your inner rockstar with the rocker-chic look for fall. Studs, rivets and other edgy accents will dominate handbags, boots, shoes and other accessories. Wear a leather jacket with a pair of allover studded ankle boots. For something a little tamer, the Christian Louboutin candy stud pumps combine a feminine silhouette with studded details.

Buckle Down
Big, bold, beautiful buckles will grace jackets, handbags and, of course, shoes. Check out the Marc Jacobs buckle ankle boots, which feature large, exaggerated straps and buckles, along with glossy patent leather. These designer booties are priced just under $1,000 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Ruffle Up
Don’t worry, all the trends for fall aren’t “harsh.” You can show your feminine side with ruffled and lace pumps. Once again this fall we are going to see a lot of purple in fashion. Purple is a regal color that is sexy and sophisticated. I love dark purple colors (like the Mary Janes down below), but the light lilacs and bright violets are also very fabulous choices. Though they call these shoes “pumps”, they are really ballet flats with a little 1-inch heel. Combining rich suede and shiny patent leather, the Ruby & Bloom pump is a cute selection for fall. These shoes come in your choice of black, espresso or navy.

I’m usually not crazy about shoes with stubby heels. I prefer 3 inches or higher, totally flat, or a curvy kitten heel. These shoes find themselves somewhere above a flat but in no man’s land.
