Over-the-Knee Boots for Fall

Expect over-the-knee boots to be hot for fall. Though I’m not sure about this trend being able to translate from the runway to real life, designers are churning out these tall boots. From glossy patent leather to luxurious suede, you can find over-the-knee boots in every color and fabric imaginable.
Let’s take a look at a few of the over-the-knee boots available from Bergdorf Goodman.

Christian Louboutin OTK Platform Boot
These grey suede boots from Christian Louboutin feature a hidden platform and 4-inch covered heel. Grey is going to be one of the hottest colors of the season. Therefore, if you are looking for something different than black, these over-the-knee boots are a fantastic option.

Joie Coachella OTK Boot
A little bit shorter, but still over the knee, these boots from Joie are a little more wearable than the others. Featuring black suede and a 1-inch heel, these boots are both comfortable and stylish. They have three adjustable buckle straps in the back for the perfect fit. The Joie Coachella OTK Boot is priced at $525.

Mary Jane pumps are ultra feminine and perfect for that girly girl look. This fall, look for Mary Janes in a variety of fabrics from super glossy patent to sumptuous velvet. These Christian Louboutin Mary Jane pumps offer sophisticated styling with a slight platform and a 5-inch heel.

Dressed up in a dark purple suede (which leans toward being wine colored), the Christian Louboutin Decocolico Mary Jane is available on pre-order right now at Saks Fifth Avenue.
These plush suede shoes are definitely pricey at $855. But if you are looking to splurge on one pair of designer shoes this fall, they are a fantastic choice.

When Texture Goes Wrong

Fall shoes are all about texture. Beautiful velvet. Plush suede. Croc-embossed leather. But sometimes, texture goes all wrong. I get it that some shoes are created just for shock value, while others are practical for the runway but not the city streets. But these designer shoes for fall are really “too much.” And by too much, I mean too much texture.
Christian Louboutin Rollerball Loafers ($995)
Oh no, Christian Louboutin! What is this monstrosity? Were you intending to make a slipper and it fell into a vat of metal studs? Saks describes this loafer as “rocker-cool.” It’s not any kind of cool in my book.

Dior Hypnotique Lace-Up Ankle Boots ($990)
I actually really wanted to like these. I’m a big fan of the menswear-inspired lace-ups with skinny heels. These booties are doomed by the weird stitching. I am still holding out hope that these Dior ankle boots might look better in person. I’m going to track them down at Saks.

Jimmy Choo Elaphe & Pony Pumps ($1,295)
You too, Jimmy Choo? Hot pink pony hair and “elaphe” skin come together in one strappy hot mess. By the way, elaphe isn’t short for elephant. It is a non-venomous snake, in case you were wondering. I tried imagining how these could possible be attractive. I haven’t come up with anything.

These unique shoes from Jonathan Kelsey have an assortment of interesting details. What started out as a basic camel pump is all dressed up with metallic stripes and a ribbon tie-front. They call these shoes “booties” but they will work well for any season.
The Jonathan Kelsey Dakota booties are on sale right now at Saks Fifth Avenue, marked down from $665 to $464.90. Many designer shoes are discounted currently at Saks. Here are a couple more that you might like.

Christian Louboutin Bouquet Platform Pumps

These pretty platform pumps from Christian Louboutin are blooming for spring. They feature black floral lace over pale pink satin. These shoes are a versatile choice, as opposed to a more colorful floral print. You can wear these peep-toe pumps with almost anything in your wardrobe.

Christian Louboutin shoes are definitely a huge splurge (these are priced at $995 at Neiman Marcus). However, if you are going to wear them often, a pair of high quality, designer shoes can be a good investment.
Personally, my shoe collection is a mix of footwear in almost every price range. I have 5-10 pairs expensive designer shoes, many of which were bought on clearance or discount. But the majority of my shoes are in the mid-range, from makers such as Nine West, Bandolino and Naughty Monkey. Then, of course, I have some real bargains like sequined and beaded Khussa shoes.

Though color is big for spring, you also should stock up on neutral shoes in shades of cream. Christian Louboutin offers a fabulous selection of cream-colored shoes in their spring collection. From pumps to slingbacks and Mary Janes to sandals, I’m sure you will find a pair that you adore. Here are three of my favorite neutrals from Christian Louboutin, all available at Neiman Marcus.

Simple and sophisticated, these pumps come in bone or pink patent leather. They have a squared toe and a 4-inch covered heel. There’s nothing flashy about these pumps, but they are very classy.

Fringe is In for Spring

Fringed boots, shoes, handbags and other accessories were very popular for fall and winter. That trend continues for spring 2009 as we are seeing many fabulous fringed shoes from top designers.
Christian Louboutin introduced this bold fringe pump in bright magenta suede. These shoes feature a buckled ankle strap that is accented by a layer of dangling fringe.
These Christian Louboutin pumps are definitely not for the faint of heart as they are certainly attention-getters. I think these shoes would look terrific with a little black dress or colorful slinky frock for springtime. If you love these pumps but don’t like the color, they also come in black. They are available now at Neiman Marcus for $1,095.

Christian Louboutin Fringe Cutout Boot

Is it a peep-toe pump? Is it a fringed boot? Who knows, but it’s definitely ugly.
Though I’m a huge fan of Christian Louboutin and understand the marketing need for “shock value” shoes at times, this one is just a monstrosity. The bottom portion of the boot looks your typical camel suede peep-toe pump, but then it breaks out into a shaft. And a fringed shaft at that.
Priced at $1,695, the Christian Louboutin Fringe Cutout Boot is available at Neiman Marcus.
So tell me Shoe Blitz readers… would you wear it? Even if it were free? Not me.
