Feeling Blue? Get Beautiful Blue Shoes

Blue is probably the most underutilized color in shoes. We see plenty of pretty pinks, purple, red, yellow and orange, but not enough blue, in my opinion. However, I was thrilled to see some of the Resort Collections for 2010 are incorporating amazing shades of blue. Here are a few of my favorite blue shoes available at Neiman Marcus.

Valentino Spotlight Sequined Silver Pumps

As I mentioned on The List Maven, sequins have made a bit comeback this season and that usually also translates into our footwear options. Not to be outdone Valentino has come out with an amazing pair of silver sequined pumps that would be quite a fantastic choice to wear for a swanky party or New Year’s Eve.

These Valentino Spotlight Sequined Pumps ($795) will definitely command the spotlight when you wear them. I love the combination of sequins with faux pearls. It sounds like it would be a bit much but they actually go quite well with each other. A peep toe pump is always a sexy option for evenings and this one is a winner. Red Hot Valentino Couture Pumps

The holidays are coming up very soon! My favourite colour is red so it’s just another of the very many reasons why I love this time of year. Red is a wonderful colour for Fall and it compliments just about everyone. There are also very many shades to choose from as well – deep wine reds, burgundy, to blue tone and coral reds. One of my favourite red shades is lipstick red and these Valentino heels have got me drooling…

These oh so pretty Valentino Couture Patent Leather Pumps ($745) are pretty amazing. They’re feminine, sexy and a bit racy. How fabulous is are the sculptural bows on the front? They’re sweet and vampy at the same time. These pumps are meant to be worn with a short dress for maximum exposure and well, drama.

Givenchy & Giuseppe Zanotti for Halloween

As much as I love shoes, there are times when I find one (or a few) that just make me wonder what was running through the designer’s mind as they were creating it. I can appreciate an interesting shoe, don’t get me wrong. I just wonder if some designers design for specific clientèle or do they really think ‘real women’ would wear the crazy shoe designs they come up with in ‘real life’?

With that being said and since Halloween is around the corner, I thought I’d show you a couple pairs of shoes that remind me of Halloween costumes or at least would complement a few Halloween costumes.

Givenchy Urania Feather and Leather Sandals ($1150) Are you dressing up as a 1920’s flapper? If so, you might want to get a pair of these shoes. The combination of leather and feathers is pretty clever. Another costume idea for these shoes would be a showgirl or you can go as one of those daring Hollywood fashionistas. Victoria Beckham comes to mind when I think of these shoes too. Overall, these Givenchy sandals are pretty tame compared with the one I’ll talk about next…

Giuseppe Zanotti Swarovski Embellished Sandals ($1150) Now this is a Halloween shoe! This would be the shoes I picture some wicked witch or some other dark and devilish figure to wear. Maybe, a sexy vampire? These are made out of black satin and decorated all over with crystals, definitely a come look at me kind of shoe!

Hot! Charlotte Olympia Maxine Sandals

I’m sure you saw those gorgeous pink and gold Christian Louboutin heels I showcased yesterday. Heck, I’m still drooling over them! Are you ready for more brightly coloured shoes? I found another worthy selection and this time it’s from Charlotte Olympia.

If you’re not familiar with Charlotte Olympia, you should be because her line of shoes are truly one of a kind. In fact, each one is adorned with the company’s signature gold spider web on the sole. This is a similar branding technique that CL shoes have with the red soles. Clever marketing strategy or just fun decoration? Either way, they are lovely shoes.

The Charlotte Olympia Maxine Sandals ($825) are definitely a ‘going out’ kind of shoe. These are not meant to be worn on casual outings, unless of course that’s your style in which case, kudos to you!

As you can see these are some seriously glam shoes. The combined colours, dark plum suede and metallic fuschia is a really playful way to incorporate this Fall’s it colour. The heel is quite hight at 5.5″ inches but the platform island measures 1″ so technically they’re only 4.5″ heels. A cake walk for some!

What I really love about these shoes is the fun zipper fastening at the front. They’re similar in style to gladiator heels which are also a major trend. If you love these you can purchase them at the Net-A-Porter website.

Christian Louboutin Beaute Strass

There are times when I come across shoes that literally make gasp with a combination of shock and awe. Christian Louboution shoes never fail to get this response from me. I was browsing through Barneys today and these heels immediately caught my eyes and my heart.

How divine are these Christian Louboutin Beaute Strass heels?! The combination of pink satin and glittering gold is girly yet sophisticated. Let’s not forget the open toe and sexy cut outs all over. The gold embellishments are made out of little gems, so exquisite!

Ok, so they’re ridiculously expensive at $2225. That’s a lot of money but wow they’re total show stoppers as most Christian Louboutin shoes are. What to wear with these beauties? Why a little black dress of course! These shoes are made to be shown off. I also picture these shoes with a pretty white or light neutral toned outfit for the Spring. Oh, and wouldn’t these be a fun shoe to wear with your wedding gown? Maybe?

I’m Loving Nanette Lepore

What I love about designer Nanette Lepore’s clothing line is the immense amount of utter femininity and sophistication in her designs, especially the dresses. Looking at her clothing always makes me grateful to be a girl, heh. This also applies when I come across her shoes.

The Nanette Lepore Lovin You shoes are so fabulously retro yet modern. I adore the flirty bow on the back! These shoes will stand apart from a crowd and that crowd won’t be able to help looking at you when you walk away. The peep toe is classic while the fun cut outs on the sides are sexy.

The colour is quite pretty too, the combination of gold and black give these platform pumps a cool, dressy feel. The heel is high at 4 3/4″ but the platform is 1/2″ so really it’s only a bit over 4″, not too bad for those of you who are used to walking in 4″ heels. If you’re not, these Nanette Lepore shoes are a great excuse to start practicing!

2010 Resort Collections Preview
