Cheap Tweet: Bargain-Hunting on Twitter!

As I continue my search for Black Friday and Cyber Monday awesomeness, I find myself perpetually returning to Twitter!

It just makes more sense, for me, rather than scouring the stores, and circulars, to do as much research as I can online – hell, I do most of the actual shopping online anyway!

I’m not alone: Aaccording Deloitte’s annual holiday survey, 3 out of 5 consumers plan to use social media to find big discounts and coupons this holiday season. As Twitter is more popular than ever, it’s not surprising it’s becoming a great way to do a lot more than status updates.

I recently got an email about CheapTweet, and decided to check it out. Basically, the site scans Twitter for posts about deals, coupons and sales, or anything else related that people are Tweeting about – they then let followers rate those deals, and it’s posted on their site in rating order! It’s sort of awesome, right?

Of course, now this crazy shopaholic in me is eager to find more deals than they do…

It’s been an annual tradition for me and my mom since I was in diapers.

Black Friday: Apple Rumors

For several months now, I’ve been giving serious consideration to the purchase of a new MacBook.

I’ve been putting it off though, because, let’s face it, it’s a tough economy – and it’s not the best time to delusionally “treat yourself” unless you are darn sure you can afford it. Especially in my line of work.

However, there’s been rumors of fabulous deals at Apple on Black Friday:

According to purportedly leaked documents on the tech rumor site Boy Genius Report, Apple is gearing up to offer a series of post-Thanksgiving bargains on products from iPods to MacBooks.

The deal, allegedly good only on November 27, lists “up to” discounts of 30 percent on iPods (excluding the Shuffle and iPhone), 25 percent on Mac laptops and desktops, and 15-percent on accessories, software, and other hardware.

The Boy Genius Report Web site says: “One of our connects just hit us up with some intriguing Apple information. According to them, what you see detailed above is a shot of Apple’s yearly Black Friday deals. It’s reported to be something Apple will email out shortly.”

Of course, with the vague use of “up to” and no specific products listed, we can’t be sure if these will be good deals or not. But if you’re interested in being the first in line to check them out, the leaked doc also says that select Apple stores will be opening at 6 a.m. on November 27.

If this is true, it would be non-economical to NOT buy one!!!

However, I probably won’t be able to gauge the true validity of this rumor until I return to the States and do some serious research…so I ask, have any of YOU heard anything? Does anyone work at Apple and have an inside line to info? If so, save me a place in line…I’ll be there at daybreak Friday!

I’m a little overwhelmed with seasonal shopping…and not just because I’m on the verge of leaving China, where I went to the day after a cruise, and upon my return home, will hightail it to my parents’ house for Thanksgiving. And then two weeks later is my birthday, and then Christmas, and then New Years, and then my best friend’ birthday.
