Feeling more like this:
Instead of this:
Lately?
Then have we got some diet fixes for you! These four goodies listed below will be just what you need to turn that frown upside down. Check it out:
SPINACH
Looks like Popeye has it right when he throws down a can of this leafy wonder. Spinach is packed with folate (as are most leafy greens, citrus fruits and beans). Having too little of this vitamin in your system has been linked to depression, so to ward off the blues, trick out your salad with a healthy dose of spinach.
SALMON
If something smells a little fishy in your life, then you’re on the right track. Salmon is the proud owner of omega-3 fatty acids, which help keep your brains cells healthy. If fish is not your thang, never fear – soy milk, walnuts and fish oil supplements can all lend a hand.
MILK
Not only does milk do a body good, it does the mind a world of good, too. Milk boasts whey protein, which studies suggest can decrease stress and lift your mood. No word on whether the effect is enhanced when paired with cookies.
CHOCOLATE
Yes! I saved the best for last. Chocolate, dear sweet chocolate, is good for more than a PMS moment or a pick-me-up after lunch. Cocoa also has a combination of chemicals that magnify feelings of euphoria and decrease stress. Hallelujah! Just one more reason to indulge in this sweet delight!
So when the stress of mid-terms looms, pack your diet with these fantastic fixes and let your happy-zappy demeanor prevail!
