Shopping on the Magnificent Mile

Okay, Britt and I spent the entire day shopping yesterday. We haven’t come close to checking out all the the department stores… which I want to do
but what I have seen so far, I’m loving. What I’m not liking is the frigid winds that blow down Michigan Avenue. They are so intense that I had to buy a pair of gloves and a headband to stay anywhere close to warm. When they say that Chicago is the windy city, they aren’t kidding. At times, it’s hard to just stay on your feet.
We did brave the temps last night to check out a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza and it was incredible. But a word of warning. Don’t do as we did. The three of us ordered a small pizza each and this style is so huge, I managed one slice… that’s it. They have an amazing way of building their pizzas that I didn’t know. They sort of build it upside down! They start with the crust which seemed to me to be cornmeal, add a very thick layer of cheese, add the topping and then fill the rest of the crust with tomato sauce.
The minute that I finish this entry, Britt and I are going to head up to the 29th floor for some time in the gym. With all the meals that we have been ordering, we need to seriously work off some of these calories. I can imagine how one could gain a ton living in this city! But the food is that good! And I haven’t even checked out the cheesecake. That’s still to come.
And after the gym, Britt and I intend to do a bit more browsing of this Magnificent Mile. They really aren’t kidding. You name a designer and chances are very good that they are located here. And oh, I did see the most gorgeous handbag yesterday. It was by Mui Mui and it was amazing… couldn’t afford it, but it was amazing. Just might take another look this afternoon. Gary said that I could have it as long as I didn’t ask for anything else for another ten years lol…
Anyway, time to change for the gym and then off to do a bit more shopping
Later…

Don’t miss the popcorn! And Mary Jo and I had an awfully nice lunch at Ralph Lauren when we were there. It was dead of summer, and the wind about froze me to death – I can’t imagine how freezing it must be there now! Have a great time!
It was BITTERLY cold and there was so much that we missed. But, I’m pretty sure that we will be going back if for no reason that to sample the popcorn. Just have to try the cheese and caramel combination. Just too cold to wait around. The line-ups were unbelievable.
