Shopping While You Shrink

I’m determined to get a flat stomach and I have the aching muscles to show for it. I have this little perpetual calendar on my bureau and each day gets a sticky note to let me track every sit-up I accomplish. Just seeing that little piece of paper staring at me makes me want to add another hundred to the daily total. You know… this just might work! I’m already up to 1400 this week. Hey, if my daughter can do it… so can I. I’m just going to ignore the fact that she is 20 something and I’m not.
But that brings you to the question of how to shop while you are dropping those inches. I have some jeans that I swear shrunk. I don’t remember ever being that skinny and while that is my goal… to get back into them, what do I do in the meantime? Somehow I stumbled upon (no not like that) this article and it gave me some ideas. Not all will work for me, but some will. That quarterly clothing swap won’t work for me because frankly, no one else in the world is built like I am. When they were passing out body shapes, I guess I wasn’t paying much attention and I took whatever was left over.
But I do have a few tricks that I rely on…
1. Scrubs have to be the most comfortable set of clothing imaginable. They are great for around the house.
2. Stretchy items are good. Wash them and they go right back to their original size.
3. Look for books that tell you what pieces flatter the shape you have. The trick is to know what NOT to wear. There is nothing worse than buying something that was a great price but looks horrid on you.
4. Try on items that you haven’t worn in a while. It almost feels like something brand new. And who knows… some items that hadn’t fit in the past, just might now!
5. Don’t give up if you don’t see results right away. Find little tricks that work for you and work them.
Do you have any little tricks to share? You can leave them in the comment section.
