Giveaway: Social Climbers Book

After her childhood at etiquette school and her days as a debutante, as a married lady Beth Dunn realized that “while ground rules for social ‘acceptance’ may have changed since her school days, the ladies definitely hadn’t. Sick of cliques, cruelties and mean girls grown up, Beth was motivated to write about them.”
Her book, Social Climbers is a fun read that is also a beautifully illustrated style guide. You might consider it the Official Preppy Handbook of the 21st century.
This week at Shopaholics Daily, you have a chance to win a signed copy of the book. To enter the giveaway, just …read more

Makeup Makeovers: Expert Secrets for Stunning Transformations

I love books like this… when you get the before photos AND the after photos. The best part… you get to try out each of the looks. LOL… I’m always playing around with makeup and the techniques that you would never try without a little prompting… usually gives the best results. For example… I once tried instructions for an Asian face and my eyes suddenly took on a life of their own! Amazing what a little instruction can do.

Paper Fashions: Design Your Own Styles (Klutz)

I just finished reading a review written by the mother of a 12 year old and she positively raved about the book and how much fun her daughter AND her friends had creating all the cute little costumes. And apparently the little sister quickly got hooked as well. And even better, the kit provides tons of special paper to make creating that much easier.

My Top Three Books for Today

I’m always looking for interesting books to add to my collection and today I chose this three. I have this thing about buying books… if I see something that interests me, I buy it right then and there. I once saw a book in Florida called The Ben Franklin Almanac and I picked it up, put it down, picked it up, put it down and then left the store. I regretted it the minute I left Florida. The following year I went back to that same bookstore and spent two different days combing the bookshelves. I was at the point …read more

Table Made of Books and a Cup of Coffee

Okay, the table really isn’t made of REAL books, but I think that it could easily be done. And I probably have enough books that I’m not using to do something like this. And it would look gorgeous in my office! It would be perfect place for lunch, seeing that I seldom leave the room anyway!

Okay, maybe I need this as well. And for the price of it, it had better make one kick ass cup of coffee! With those two items, my office would be coming along nicely. Ah, a girl can dream!
