Not that I’m remotely a fan of rain, but if you must experience it you may as well be well-accessorized!

bootsCheck out these adorable rain boots I’ve discovered!

They are Tamara Henriques’ preciously cute country floral wellies, and sell for $118 Olive and Bette’s - colorfully printed and florally fabulous (say that five times fast), they sort of put the spring back in your step - no matter how putrid the weather!

It won’t do anything for your hair, though. (Sorry!)

Proof of a Higher Being: Pink Cowgirl Boots!

beige-renegadeI have several obsessions, stylistically. Among them are boots and all things pink. Thus, an eventual convergence was pretty much inevitable.

Behold what I have started to lovingly refer to as “totally adorable pink cowgirl boots” but are actually Tony Lama boots in antique tan full quill vintage ostrich.

Am I totally comfortable with the ostrich part? I rest easy knowing that the poor feathered friend will not die in vain…and will be thought of often as I sashay around town. Furthermore, what other way can an East Coast girl such as myself show her patriotism than by wearing such distinctly western boots??? It’s not about me, it’s about American pride.

At a retail value of around $350, these boots are now on sale for just $147. Dubbed the “Beige Renegade,” they are probably a splurge for most of us - but then again, we are working harder than ever to support the economy.

Plus, they are just so darn cute, I can’t help myself.

Finding the perfect boots

The first snow has fallen across parts of the country and winter is officially here!

For those of us keeping a tighter grip on our purse strings, it’s all about smart shopping for true winter investment pieces that will last us for seasons to come.

With stylish yet practical footwear and accessories that will effortlessly complement the lifestyle of today’s woman, we can fend off frostbite while staying chic all winter long.

For the Woman-On-The-Go

If you are always running around from one errand to the next, it’s important to find a boot that looks good and is also extremely comfortable. It’s best to look for either a flat boot, wedge or style with a small heel for a little height. A great choice is the Laney boot, which will keep toes toasty and dry while out and about in the harsh winter weather, but also has a great, sleek look for any time of year.

Laney, $330

For a Stand-Out Style Day or Night

If you mix business with pleasure and frequently head out directly from the office, it’s a good idea to purchase a versatile boot that is both work and evening appropriate. Try a heel that is around two or three inches to provide a polished, sophisticated look for any event. A perfect example is the Marlena boot, as it will stylishly take you straight from the workplace to an evening out on the town.

Marlena, $345

For Those Frostier Winter Days

When the snow is falling hard or city streets are slushy, a warm, waterproof boot that will keep you dry is the only way to go. But, that doesn’t mean that they don’t have to look cute! Shearling-lined boots, like the Tami, are designed with both comfort and fashion in mind, so that looking good and feeling good is easily achieved.

11th hour shout-out: What are you wearing tonight?

I know you are all probably down to the wire trying to figure out what to wear tonight for your NYE festivities…

I am going to be at an intimate gathering tonight, but still want to look festive. Here’s what I have in mind: From SmartBargains.com, behold this great Yuka Wool Blend Lurex Turtleneck.

A layered look is easy to achieve when the items come ready to wear together. The turtleneck cable knit is layered over knit long sleeves and bottom that ties off to one side. There’s great gold threading shimmering through, making it casual and festive all at the same time.

Lots of fun!

A great look (for me) almost always involves the right pair of jeans. With my tunic, I’m wearing my favorite jeans - the Chelsea Skinny Stretch cut from Joe’s Jeans. Right now selling for $158 at Bloomies, you too must pick up a pair - they can’t help but make your butt look hot!

Generally, New Years Eve is an excuse to wear strappy heels - and truth be told, I did have those in mind! But, there is ICE outside, I had to reevaluate - and thus, I am wearing my favorite standby suede booties.

These are just too cute for words; they are cleverly tattooed across the back of the calf, and are flat boots, so I am less likely to break my ass in them. Plus they are  shearling-lined suede. There ain’t anything more festive than that! They selling for $79 right now at SmartBargains - I ordered them in several shades!

So, what are you wearing tonight? Please comment with your thoughts!

Heaven-sent hip high boots

Recently, I was sent the high hip style from EMU Australia…and my life was forever changed.

OK, not really. I am not vain enough to suggest that my literal existence could be fundamentally altered by a pair of boots. But look how hot they are!

When unfolded, the shaft extends above the knee - perfect for your winter knit tunics and tights. (Perfect for combining that essential “naughty and nice” look when out with a lustworthy boy.)

Some more lust-worthy details:

* Lined with 100% merino wool (Australian!)
* Reinforced heel cover & stiffener for added comfort & support
* Based on the hip but extended up above the knee

Currently in NYC, it is bitterly cold…I can hardly feel my fingers or nose! These boots are taking care of my toes though.

The pair sent to me was in sand, but it’s so totally cute and affordable (currently selling for $100.95 at Endless.com) - that I may be buying it in some other colors!

shearling boots

Those boots on the left… I think that they are really cute and all, but Britt and I couldn’t understand why everyone in California was wearing them. Basically you had two choices… you either went for flip flops or you went for boots like this. What am I missing here??

Now, I can see why women would wear them here… they keep your feet warm! And yes, pink was a very popular color!

You Need Two Pairs of Jeans… at least

Athens CrocsIf you are like me, you wear your jeans either with boots with heels, with flats, sneakers or sandals. This means that your jeans have to be of different lengths. A pain in the butt, but necessary!
The ragged hems that were popular in the seventies are not fashionable anymore!
