Is this not the cutest dress Brittany Snow was sporting the other night? The Prom Night star looks the part in this filmy white dress with great detail. Of course, her hair looks fantastic and her healthy glow, too. This is a great look to emulate for Prom.

And if you’re digging the look of short styles, but want some subtle color, check out Country Cutie Carrie Underwood’s dress from the CMT Awards the other night. She looked fantastic and her dress was so unique. Of course, Teri has the scoop on Carrie’s threads, too. =)

Red Trapeze Pocket Dress from Alloy, $19.99

Love this dress, and love the red! Red is the color to command attention. And you could so wear this again. A great shoe, an up-do and a few gold bangle bracelets will make you look like the star you are.

Scoopneck Babydoll Dress from Alloy, $19.99

Another cutie that you’ll wear again and again. With the short sleeves, this one’s a little more casual, but with the right jewelry (think layering short strands of chunky pearls with long strands of smaller pearls) and a sky-high black patent shoes, this dress would rock it out.

2. The straps must be as wide as 3 fingers (Hmmm! Picky, picky, picky!)

So Katie is wondering what kind of look she could get away with that would be both affordable and something she could wear again. Here are some options I came up with:

Pleated V-Neck Dress from Macy’s, $54.

This great dress from Macy’s is fun and flirty, but not too provocative. I love the vibrant green color, but it also comes in Royal Blue. And at $54, it’s a great price for a dress that can definitely be worn again.

Jewel-Neck Dress from Macy’s, $23.99

A super-steal, this dress is on clearance for only $23.99! I love the forgiving shape and fun neck detail. This dress lends itself to a sophisticated and demure look, or can be Rocker-Girl’d up, like in this pic. A great choice – love it!

Bubble Dress from Macy’s, $48

Bubble dresses are all the rage, and this one’s brilliant color is fantastic against the black tights and shoes. This is such a fun look that can be worn again and again by mixing up accessories and adding sweaters/wraps. And it’s only $48!

Tuxedo Dress from Macy’s, $40.60

The always classy black and white takes a mod twist here with the contrasting belt and deep v-neck. I love how flowy this is and I love the re-wear potential. And with a price tag of only $40.60, this is a real bargain.

Amanda Bynes and Brittany Snow at the Critics’ Choice Awards

She looks great in white. She looks great in purple. Hair up, hair down. Is there anything Amanda Bynes can’t rock? Seriously.

Here’s A.B. along with fellow Hairspray-er Brittany Snow, at the Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday. They are both looking so fun and glamorous in their bright dresses – a bold choice for a winter awards show.

Both of these looks are perfect for winter formals and going for a notice-me-now color like these two did seems like a winning choice. Smooth on a self-tanner and you’re gold!

As if Amanda Bynes is not cute enough, now she had to go and take one giant Hollywood trend and rock the heck out of it.

Doesn’t she look totally cute here? The dress. The shoes. The clutch. The shoes. The hair. The shoes. If you have a winter formal coming up, take note. This is a great look to copy. Add a splash of color and keep warm like Katie Holmes did here and watch every eye follow you wherever you go.

So what’s hot right now? Take a look:

• Metallics still reign supreme, along with the quintessential LBD (little black dress) and fiery red frocks. Flowy styles are comfortable and forgiving, all while providing that really cool swirling skirt effect while you’re breaking it down on the dance floor.
• Heels are definitely the way to go for any dressy occasion, but be sure to either wear boots while trudging through the snow, or perfect your death grip on your sweetie. Maybe the latter is more preferable, eh?
• Hair looks party-ready in a half up-do (that’s just the sides and top pinned up, with the rest flowing down). Tap into your adventurous side and sport a hair ornament, such as the cool flower below, or go for all-over curls or waves.
• Clutches should be your handbag go-to and large and funky jewelry can pump up your look in a hurry.
• Above all else, have fun and try something unique to you.

With those tips in mind, here are just a few of the goodies I found at Alloy, one of my fave sites out there.
