It was one I am familiar with: I had flown out to Boston last fall to have a similar meeting with TJX (TJMaxx/Marshalls, of which AJWright is a family member) and learned a lot – about how their buyers get the deals, and just how far the deals can take you. Essentially, they take advantage of department store overstock, and end up with current-season merchandise at a fraction of retail.

But even I wasn’t ready for this experience. AJWright is sort of to TJ Maxx what Old Navy is to Banana Republic – the seen-as-scrappy little brother who will be the one who save the world.

It’s been many years since I’ve been planning for homecoming – but I go to a friend’s mock prom quite often, so I’m almost always in formal-dress-ready mode.

I think this Speechless Strapless Bubble Dress is very cute! White/black is always hot – like, classically – and bubble dresses? Screams retro sexy. Not that you want your teenager to be sexy, necessarily. But I guarantee you that’s what she wants.

I love this shirred ruffle plum look. It usually retails for $86, but during the sale is $39 AND you get an additional $10 off if you buy two of their dresses (with the promo code “curtsey” at check out).

I love the dainty capped sleeves and ruffled bottom – it gives a formal edge to a casual summer dress – the model is wearing it with  more conservative shoes, but I think it would look really fun with a pair of straw wedges. It’s total beach party attire!

I used to think scarves were just for winter, but I was so wrong. A fabulous scarf equals classically sexy pretty much year round.

• Destroyed Denim – Not just a whole in the knee; the entire jean is shredded for an updated look.

• Graphic, Colorful Tees – guys have updated the graphic tee now with bright colors
• Plaid – Argyle vests for a new twist on preppie
• Denim – all with funky back pocket treatments
• Printed/Graphic woven’s – button downs with edgy prints on the sleeves, back or chest.
