Young Hollywood Weighs in on Fashion

Let’s face it, all that fashion week coverage is pretty darn intimidating.
A lot of us want practical advice for what’s hot now – how to wear it – and where to find it.
And that’s what I’m here to (try to) do!
To help me out, I’ve sent out a few questions to some hot new young celebs on the Hollywood scene. They shared some of their thoughts on current fall fashion hotness!
First up, Jennifer Stone of “Wizards of Waverly Place”:
1. How to achieve a great fall look?
When I want to really find a great look for fall, I decide before …read more

Greta Jorgensen Fall Collection

I love when I find simple dresses in elegant, easy-to-wear styles. Not too youthful — just classy, sophisticated and chic. But oftentimes when you find the perfect dress, it has a not-so-perfect price tag. That’s why I was delighted to learn about Greta Jorgensen’s fall collection.
Created from 100% high-quality jersey knit, these dresses offer a bit of stretch for movement but never get stretched out. You can find her fall collection online at gretajorgensen.com. They are perfect to wear to the office, a party or just about anywhere else.
Here are a couple of my favorites from the line.

Double-Knit Cocoon Cardigan

Cardigans are staple pieces in every woman’s fall wardrobe. From fitted cropped cardigans to slouchy boyfriend cardigans, you can find these cozy sweaters in all shapes, colors and styles. Recently, I came across this pretty red knit cardigan at Neiman Marcus.
This double knit cardigan features both chain and ribbed knit. It has a shawl collar and open front. The hip-length is perfect (unless you are really petite — then pick a shorter cardigan).
This pure handknit cocoon cardigan is available in red, grey or black. I’m very fond of grey but the red can make a nice statement. You can get …read more

Disco Fever On The Runway!

Guest Post from Stylehive
Get ready to throw on some shimmer and shine and hit the dance floor with disco inspired clothing! Sequins, beads, and lame were all over the spring runways and are still going strong for fall. The 2009 sequins trend isn’t about prom dress type sequins and formal glamour, but rather scattered and broken sequins and beads that add a touch of luster.
There are so many ways to get the look– from clothing to accessories, your options are endless. Don’t be afraid to pair them with pared down pieces for a cool juxtaposition of dressy and casual. Throw …read more

Alexander McQueen High-Waist Pants

This fall, I have seen a lot of designers combining different contrasting patterns together with fantastic results. Then today, I was surfing around e-window shopping and came across this outfit from Alexander McQueen at Neiman Marcus. Yikes!
I definitely like a lot of stuff from the Alexander McQueen collection. But this orange print blouse with the houndstooth pants? Not so much. This big bow blouse by itself isn’t bad (though I’m not sure I could justify the $1,090 price tag) but the pants are horrendous.
Many women love high-waisted, wide-legged pants and I have seen it work well for some of …read more

Beautiful Boots for Fall

Fall is a fabulous time in the fashion scene — from eye-catching coats to slouchy sweaters and colorful scarves to beautiful boots. Today, let’s talk about the latest trends in boots this season.
Flat Riding Boots
A classic for fall, riding boots are versatile and easy to wear. If you live in an area with wet weather, stick to boots that are flat or feature a short stacked heels. Skinny stilettos are a recipe for disaster on wet sidewalks. This season, look for riding boots in snake-embossed leather, sumptuous suede and glossy patent. In terms of color, you can’t go wrong with …read more

Plaid will once again be on trend for fall. If you aren’t sure about how much you’ll like wearing plaid, then buy a couple cheap pieces at first before splurging on something more expensive. A great place to shop online is Forever 21, where you can find a cute selection of plaid skirts, dresses and tops at under $20 each. Here are just a few items that you might like.
