Natural Stress Relief: Dan Gibson’s Solitudes

After so many years of sitting in front of a computer… okay it hasn’t been all that long, but it seems to be enough to warrant taking up Yoga and at the end of my session, I am supposed to relax into the Corpse pose… a position that is a lot better than it sounds. I’m to close my eyes for ten minutes and let my back muscles relax. That also means shutting off your brain for those ten minutes.

I find the best way to do it is to listen to something from the Solitudes collection. This particular CD features a song called Unwinding Stream… go and take a listen. Amazon has four song samples that are truly relaxing. Turning on my electric blanket and curling up for a nap this afternoon, listening to this can’t be anything but good for the soul! Be sure to take a listen.

I originally had plans to post this in the stocking stuffers category and while you can still open up the container and slip one in each stocking, I’m thinking now of how much WE deserve something like this. Chances are that it’s been a hectic month and bubble bath to soothe away the stresses, sounds like a plan to me. Go ahead and treat yourself.

You will want to get this puzzle out each and every Christmas. We have one of our favorites (that’s just hard enough to make it last out the month of December) and each year everyone looks forward to seeing it appear on the dining room table. Come Christmas Day, it is boxed back up for another year!

And this one look very tempting!! And why is it being featured in a Fashion and Beauty Channel?? Because working on a puzzle at a stressful time does plenty for your looks. You suddenly look rested as all of the stresses of the day get put aside for 20 minutes or so!

AM/PM Yoga for Beginners (Amazon)

I just finished the PM version of this video. I only have a 2 o’clock slot to work with so I use the time allotted me. I highly recommend it if you really dislike exercising. (That’s definitely me) So for you moms with little kids… the minute they go down for their nap, put it on the video. Not only does it stretch bits of you that haven’t been stretched in years, it’s also relaxing. Might as well take advantage and I was quite surprised to find that I feel quite refreshed after a 20 minute session and I would never have lasted that long with a regular exercise program. And even better, my sides are hurting. I just might get that waistline yet!!

Next week, I’m going to shoot for the morning sessions as well.

Fishbowl With an Attitude

And you thought that fishbowls were boring. Now this one couldn’t be further from boring and I think would be something for the college student away for the first time. You did know that you can train goldfish right??

And just in case you are wondering… these bowls come in medium, large and extra large size. Actually, I think that it would be kind of relaxing to have one sitting on my desk. Not sure how much work I would get done, but it would be cool to sit and watch him!
