A Stylistic Tribute to Michael Jackson

I think for, as long as I live, when I think back upon Michael Jackon–as a style icon–I’ll remember his military-style jackets.
And the experts will agree – Michael Jackson put this style on the map.
“Even though the Beatles wore military jackets during the Sgt. Pepper era, Michael Jackson made the military jacket a mainstream staple, especially amongst the celebrity set. Balmain’s all over military jackets, Beyonce and Rihanna are all over Balmain’s military jackets, and even before that, Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance and Coldplay were wearing them too,” says  Tamar Anitai, of MTV Buzzworthy Blog.
“It’s a great timeless …read more

Retro Bow Bikini

I’m going to Montauk next weekend, and was super depressed to notice that I had no current and cute swim suits to wear. (A no-no in that hood!)
Thank goodness, my Retro Bow Bikini from Playful Promises arrived just in time.
Isn’t it totally adorable?
I love the retro feel, obviously, but I most love that it gives me cleavage! Yes, little 34A me has boobage going on, and tied with a perky pink bow!
I also love the great tied side waist (and not just because there’s something deliciously naughty about it) – but if you are feeling a little shy, cover it …read more

More Retro-Chic: The A-Line Dress Returns

Think back to Ginger and Mary Ann.
Jeanie.
This list goes on. (And on.)
How can you not remember the absolutely hot 60s-style A-line shift dress?
It’s a little vintage, ever so slightly mod, but classically gorgeous – and it’s back!
A great example of a now-take on this retro look is the Milly Fabulous Obelisk A Line Shift Dress. It’s a very “uptown” look, and would look great with gold jewelry and upswept hair,  my fave part is the buckled self-belt at empire waist and slant pockets at hip.
Another reason I love this style: ANYONE can wear it! Whether you are 25 or 55, …read more

Tonight, I came across the new Pepsi Throwback cans, and instantly thought they were, well, pretty darn cute!
Here’s the back story: This spring, Pepsi and Mountain Dew are taking a nostalgic trip back in time by offering special retro formula of their beverages sweetened with natural sugar, just as they were back in the ‘60s and ‘70s, giving fans literally a taste of the past.
In honor of this promotion, they are offering ShopaholicsDaily readers a refreshingly rad retro throwback pack valued at $150 and featuring the following items:

Pepsi Throwback Trucker Cap

Hot Pink High Tops: Hello 1985!

There is a bit of a retro trend going on in the fashion world right now, and everything that was hot 30 years ago suddenly is again.
Of course, in the middle of a recession, we need to find small and key ways to embrace the trend – and I think one great way may be footwear!
Lacoste Footwear’s Observe 2 Hi style sneaker totally 80s-reminiscent, and comes in a super hot pink.
Who during that era didn’t have bright high tops??? Now imagine them with your liquid leggings…!!!

Retro Sunglasses

I need just one pair right?? I don’t think so. There are aviator, cat’s eyes, retro, movie star (really just big ones to hide behind), so where do you stop? Just ask Britt. She goes through several pairs each summer. Most of the time they get sat on, so you simply stock up at the beginning of the season.
I wonder if she would be interested in a pair that looks straight out of the seventies??
