What do you see as some of the big trends for fall?

I love rich colors like purples and reds in suedes and textures. A great boot is a necessity. The thigh high boot is ultra sexy and there are many versions, so there are more wearable options available. Animal print and chain detailing are also a big trend for Fall; perfect for giving an outfit a bit of an edge.

I LOVE the Nine West Vintage America collection – can you tell me more about it, and its inspiration?

It was important for me to offer the Nine West customer a more casual option and I loved the idea of going back to what we love about American fashion – your favorite jeans, rich leathers, relaxed boots. The Vintage America collection updates timeless pieces with a modern yet soulful sensibility.

Personally, I now own the Keliane boot style – what would you advise i wear it with to create the perfect fall outfit?
That is a great boot! I love it with distressed denim tucked in loosely with a great worn in cardigan or cropped sweater; comfort is key with this style.

There’s a lot of belts on the runway this season – how do you like to use them that you find most on-trend and flattering?

Belts are great accessories – they look best when worn around the smallest part of the waist. They create curves and give the allusion of slim proportions simultaneously.

What are the big colors and patterns for fall?

Purple and red are important colors this season. You will see them everywhere – from footwear to nail polish. I also love dark teal. It adds a pop of unexpected color to any outfit. Animal prints are back once again as well. I think women can pull off wearing printed tights and footwear as long as they have confidence. Fashion should be fun so it is best to experiment with the trends to see what works for you.

One of my favorite boots of the season is the Via Spiga Malory style, pictured above – they sent me a pair to try out and they are SO hot. I love flat boots because they are easier to run around in, but with their polished detail, they are still tall and sexy. My favorite look is pairing them with opaque tights and a fitted sweater dress. Both are so big this fall!

It’s essentially because when I do attempt my sexy stilettos – of which I have a collection – I fall flat on my face! This is not sexy. Not sexy at all.

Modelina.com recently posted a video giving a step-by-step tutorial on walking in heels – it’s a must-check-out! In this video, Anastassia Khozissova, a super model and a muse of Ralph Lauren, hosts high heel boot camp!

In summary, the video will give a few key tips:

Hips

While walking in heels, place your hands at the side of your hips and move your hips side to side to bring your hips to your hands. Remember that the movement of a runway walk comes from your hips!

Head

Always keep your head back and your chin up. Don’t ever push your head forward!

Toes

The best walk involves stretching the arch of your foot and practicing walking on your toes
in order to train the muscles of your feet.

Arms

Remember, the movement of your arms must come from your shoulders. Try relaxing your shoulder muscles and swinging your arms like a pendulum.

I’m following these tips, and now only is a runway-like walk in heels more accessible, but I feel incredibly sexy while trying it out!

I honestly feel a little weird in them, but they look positively fierce when worn right! (i.e. by someone who DOES know how to walk in heels.)

I would try to funk up jeans and a corset-type top, or really be wild and wear with a skirt and colored tights for a colorblock effect.

They can be sexy chic with a LBD, but also worn with your casual denim, it really is that versatile.

So how do we make our old shoes like new? Marty Stevens-Heebner, author of Altered Shoes: A Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Footwear Fabulous offered some fun tips.

* If you have widow earrings that have lost their mates, or if you have earrings you don’t want to wear anymore, you can glue those earrings to your shoes with a hot glue gun.
* Shoes often fray at the tops, where the foot enters the shoe, or where the sole of the shoe meets the upper. If you want to save those frayed shoes, or if you have a torn seam or edge, take some ribbon you have lying around and use a hot glue gun to glue the ribbon around the seam of the shoe. You can use ribbon that’s the same color as the shoes or that’s a contrasting color. (Example: the Viva Las Vegas Stilettos)
* You can glue a cluster of rhinestones or buttons over a tear or scuff on your shoes and no one will be the wiser. To further customize it, you can do this in the shape of your first or last initial.
* If you’re a pet fan, you can glue dog or cat charms to your shoes.
