Using Coupons: Do’s and Don’ts

As you probably have noticed, I post info about coupons and sales pretty often – but a lot of you may be hesitant to follow through if you are new to coupons, or even shopping online, and are afraid of falling into a trap.

First of all, here’s some things you SHOULD DO when shopping online and using coupon codes:

Compare prices between stores and brands before making purchases. Just because a store is having a sale, or a discount, doesn’t mean they are the best value.

No matter how great the price is to start out with, always seek out a coupon code or discount offer before purchasing anything online. No matter how great a deal you are getting, there’s always the possibility of a better one!

Research prices and promotional codes at sites like PromotionalCodes.com and
CouponWinner.com.

Double coupons are not just for grocery stores, and stacking is possible. Several offers can sometimes be applied to the same purchase to save even more. For example, a 25% off coupon can be used along with a free shipping coupon to maximize savings on the same purchase.

Sometimes you will need to spend a minimum amount to get a discount, if the price is right, this is sometimes worthwhile: Especially if it adds to your overall savings.

Here’s what you SHOULD NOT DO:

If you are going shopping in an actual store – that’s fine – but first check out the online prices to see if you can get a better deal. And if they have coupons and/or free shipping, it may change your mind about venturing out.

Just like with our medications, going generic sometimes is a good thing. If you try a “no name” brand, you may get the same quality for way less money.

Don’t forget to read the fine print on coupons. Expiration dates, minimum order size and
certain exclusions may affect how you use the promotional codes.

Don’t pay for coupons. This is a sign that a website is untrustworthy. Promotional codes are provided
by retailers to shoppers for FREE.

So Many Reasons to Visit NY & Co

Another great sale this weekend is over at one of my staple stops, New York and Co.

Right off the bat, they are having this mega sale with up to 70% off all sorts of great, sexy, tops and dresses. But on top of that (yes, it gets better), when you checkout, use coupon code 1628 to knock $30 off all orders of $75 or more, or code 3907 to save $60 on orders of $150 or more.

The sale will be here a little while longer, but the coupon codes only work through November 1…which is in like, two days, so put down that Halloween candy and get shopping!

TGIF: Enjoy Massive Friday Sales!

Guess what? I’m about to wax poetic about Betsey Johnson again.
