It appears that Payless didn’t want Target to have all the “designers for” fun, and has launched a line of functional footwear by designer Jeff Staple.

Super-affordable at under $40, they are comfy and cute – and the perfect way for me to begin to actually…own a pair of sneakers.

I love how it’s sporty and sturdy and yet oddly feminine.

My Airwalk hi skate sneakers are purple and yellow, and feature a leather colorblock upper and two-tone skate laces.

They are totally cute! And good for like, walking and exercise and stuff.

Hot Pink High Tops: Hello 1985!

There is a bit of a retro trend going on in the fashion world right now, and everything that was hot 30 years ago suddenly is again.

Of course, in the middle of a recession, we need to find small and key ways to embrace the trend – and I think one great way may be footwear!

Lacoste Footwear’s Observe 2 Hi style sneaker totally 80s-reminiscent, and comes in a super hot pink.

Who during that era didn’t have bright high tops??? Now imagine them with your liquid leggings…!!!

Keds Go Green

In case you’ve been feeling some guilt for not being as earth-friendly as you can/should be, I have great news: You can now get serious karma credit simply by buying a pair of shoes! (Which, as a reader of Shopaholics Daily, I am certain you are already quite good at.)
Keds Green Label sneakers are pretty identical to the Keds we are all familiar with, but they are 100% organic cotton, and the laces are made from 100% recycled water bottles – how crazy cool is that?

The outsoles are made of recycled rubber, and all the inks and dyes are non-toxic, meaning you could pretty much eat these shoes if you wanted to. Though you woudn’t – cause that would be super freaky.

Behold my hot new kicks!

I indeed may love shoes (I own a Shoe Wheel and no less than 2 dozen pairs of boots), but I as a rule hate sneakers. In fact, when forced to wear them, it usually involves a good hour of rummaging. (And the one pair I own, I own due to the adorable spirals tattooed throughout. Also, they were a gift, and therefore do not count in this rhetoric.)

Anyway, my torch has been relit, and love anew brews for sneakers.

But they aren’t just any sneakers: Check out the new Melrose style from Fila.

Retailing for $70, they are price-point friendly for this caliber of footwear, they are just beyond cute. Embodying last-season’s preppy plaid fetish and this season’s love for metallics and purple, I have been wearing them all week and getting tons of observational kicks love from v. jealous besotted friends.

Proof positive of a good find!
