More Retro-Chic: The A-Line Dress Returns

Think back to Ginger and Mary Ann.
Jeanie.
This list goes on. (And on.)
How can you not remember the absolutely hot 60s-style A-line shift dress?
It’s a little vintage, ever so slightly mod, but classically gorgeous - and it’s back!
A great example of a now-take on this retro look is the Milly Fabulous Obelisk A Line Shift Dress. It’s a very “uptown” look, and would look great with gold jewelry and upswept hair, my fave part is the buckled self-belt at empire waist and slant pockets at hip.
Another reason I love this style: ANYONE can wear it! Whether you are 25 or 55, it is an appropriate choice, and the A-line silhouette is very forgiving to our “curves”, skimming over the stomach and hips.
Totally cute - I’m down with this trend. (And perhaps this dress.)

Say “Peace Out!” to Bush!

Inauguration fever is sweeping the country and there’s still time to be sure your sartorial choices match up with the resounding theme of change spreading across the country.
Whether you’re up for an understated statement of peace, or hoping to snag one of the new “Biden Bowler Bags” (so nicknamed after the country’s soon-to-be Second Lady purchased one from a local Delaware boutique), or if you’re just looking for an excuse to pick up something new for your accessories wardrobe and would love to use the Inauguration as an excuse, here’s your chance
Peace Talisman Earrings, Necklace by Michele Baratta:
Say peace out to George Bush in style, or simply wear them as a reminder of what everyone in the country is hoping for under the new administration with these handmade sterling silver earrings and necklaces.
Even better, they are recession-friendly at under $45.00 so breathe easy! Find both at www.shopmichele.com.

“Jill Biden Bowler Bag”, by Kara James Bags (http://karajamesbags.com/b-kate.php ): This election year was not only notable for serious change, but also a serious injection of style thanks to Michelle Obama and Jill Biden. Take a page out of Jill Biden’s style book and grab your own Inauguration-worthy handbag by picking up the red patent Kate Bowler Bag by Kara James Bags (now of course named after its most famous carrier!).
This bag not only looks amazing, but comes with more than one interchangeable tab belt to change your look in less time than it takes to change your earring – this second lady in the White House not only knows style, but a good deal as it’s virtually two bags for the price of one!
Find the “Biden Bowler Bag” (aka the Kate) at www.karajamesbags.com

As I’m sort of a shopaholic, I’m so so excited to be a part of this blog!
My awesome friend Kori Ellis (B5 Beauty/Style channel editor and author of Shoe Blitz, as well as a zillion other things) shall be co-writing this daily account of all the awesomeness we find in our …. market research…(i.e. shopping incessantly).
For the most part, Kori will be posting here about beauty, and I’ll be posting about fashion - but there’ll be an awesomely fun mix from both of us. If there’s anything in particular you wish to see, please leave comments and send emails!

Celebrity Style… Is It In You??
In this shot, Jessica Simpson reminds me of a particular girl at my old university (whose name I have long forgotten), but thinking back, she had this way of putting together the most ordinary items and together, they would work amazingly well. The rest of us where in plain old jeans but she would take a few pieces than alone wouldn’t catch your eye, pull them all together and look positively amazing! So does Jessica Simpson in this shot!
Have to admit… Simpson’s clothing allowance probably is a whole lot more than we had to spend back then. On the other hand… that girl always managed and she was about as broke as the rest of us. I guess she just had style and the rest of us didn’t lol…

Just in case that you thought that the over-sized sunglasses were out of date… apparently not so! And you can see why celebs choose this style. I think she’s going for… “no, I’m not really who you think I am”. I just resemble that singer. On the other hand… maybe she likes to be noticed??

E-Pen Hair Removal System for Shopaholics

Now if this little gadget really works, it would save you a lot of time and money. I went for a year to a lady who had a professional electrolysis room set up in her house. Well nearly a year. I developed a “frozen shoulder” and it took a year of therapy to repair the damage so that put an end to the weekly electrolysis appointments.
I would have thought that the best part of a year would have done a major job on the growth, but it didn’t happen. I should have saved my money. But if I could do it at home… just maybe I could do a better job myself. Here’s what they have to say about this particular gadget.
“Our patented E-Pen is needle-free, safe, painless and clinically proven to remove unwanted hair at the root! The E-Pen uses the same galvanic technology used by professional , yet is easy and comfortable to use in the privacy of your home. Removes individual hairs with the tip or use the special adhesive body pads to remove hair from an entire area.”
I would love to hear from anyone who has used this product!!
Clothes for Rent

“Stars have always relied on borrowed frocks to give them the edge on the red carpet. Now a new breed of high-end rental showrooms is making it easier for the rest of us to dress up in style without making a long-term commitment to a gown or shelling out thousands for a bag that’s out of fashion by its second outing. “Let’s face it: most women don’t want to wear the same thing to an event more than once,” says Joanna Doniger of the London-based evening-wear-rental company One Night Stand. And today’s rentals can be straight off the catwalks or hard-to-find vintage pieces.”
Now I just might learn to like this idea. To own the outfit outright just might be a tad more than I can manage, but this way suddenly opens some door! I will have to go looking for such a store in my own backyard, but if I can’t find one… London sounds nice for a holiday
Hey, we have relatives over there and I’m sure that Britt will find a way to get the time off work. Most of the time she has no use for shopping, but she does like to travel!
And now that I think about it, my sister-in-law rented a wedding gown that was pretty amazing. Knowing that she wouldn’t wear it again, the practical side of her won out and she didn’t splash out the thousands that she might have!
