Okay, I’m back from our first walk around downtown Chicago and I’m liking it… a lot. More about that tomorrow. But I have a really good tip for you. It has everything to do with reading the menu when you order in from a restaurant menu. I didn’t do that when we stopped at The Elephant and Castle for dinner. I’m obviously still thinking that I’m in England and I have to put that behind me. Anyway, I ordered a glass of Merlot to go with my roast beef stuffed Yorkshire Pudding and it was so good, that I …read more

Yes, we are all shopaholics at heart, but it is fun every once in a while to enter a contest where we can actually win something for free! And while there are some honest to goodness contests, there are companies that manage to get in under the wire? So, how do you tell is something is legit or not?
You go to the link below. That’s where everyone is discussing whether or not a company is trying to scam you or not. And these people are good! And you are going to recognize a lot of these companies. Even I …read more

“Straddling the line between preying on a parent’s worst fears and making sense in a weird sort of way is My Child’s Pack, an allegedly bulletproof backpack that will run you $175 plus shipping. In the years following the Columbine and Virginia Tech school shootings, not to mention the domestic violence in Essex last year that ended with teachers shot and killed, it’s hard not to look at this item and think that maybe it’s a move in the right direction. It’s also hard not to feel that things like My Child’s Pack are …read more

I started playing around with a deck just for the fun of it and now I start my morning by choosing one card. It’s eerie how accurate one card can be. Am I making things happen because I planted the thought in my head?? Who knows?? But it still is eerie!

I just finished reading an article about this group of women and man, do they put me to shame. The next time my husband raises an eyebrow at the number of bags I bring into the house, I will show the article… which I just might print out and save.
To be quite honest, I do love to shop, but on a much smaller scale than these woman obviously. It’s like a little reward for working hard all week. Something wrong with that?? Now I am even happier if I can find something at an incredible price… that just makes the …read more

Now can you think of a better job than getting paid to evaluate companies and their shopping practices?? Poor ”Beth” thought that it was the perfect job for her until it all blew up in her face.
“Beth sent two money orders to addresses in Canada for nearly $4,000. She was told to keep the rest of the money, about $700, as her paycheck. A week later, her bank called to say the check was counterfeit. Beth now has to pay all that money back.
“That is a huge problem going on right now with counterfeit checks.” Dean Taylor, with the Better Business Bureau …read more

“Smelling the washing-up liquid, feeling the chocolate bar for nuts ,shopping in the dark is quite a challenge, as hundreds of Swiss shoppers discovered last week.
The Swiss Federation of the Blind and Visually Impaired organised this rare experience for shoppers at a mall near Fribourg. swissinfo went along to take the test.
With more than 80 per cent of information coming through sight, it is very disconcerting to suddenly find yourself plunged into darkness. The darkness in the specially constructed tent was absolute.”
While I never participated in this experience, I was plunged into darkness at a mall last year. We were …read more
