Fedoras for Fall

This weekend, I wrote a post on my hair blog about how to style our hair when wearing a fedora.

Hat Attack

Fedoras have always been a fashion staple among the most stylish of ladies, but this fall, we will see it surge to a degree we haven’t seen in decades. This means, if you have not yet secured one, you better get shopping!

A cute affordable find is Hat Attack’s Shetland wool fedora. It comes in grey or taupe with suede buckle, and sells for $55 – a wallet-friendly way to show off the trend.

Fedoras are a pretty masculine look, so try to pair with a feminine dress and girlie accessories.

Scarves in a Whole New Light

I love how scarves have become such an intrinsic part of accessorizing, and are no longer relegated to hiding a bad hair day.

Check out the scarf at left, from ABonita – it’s a unique 4-in-1 fashion/head scarf that is not only adorable, but super functional. Check out all you can do with it:

Attach the headband over the fabric for one look.
Attach the headband under the fabric to give it a more flowing look.
Hide the hardware by tucking in the shorter ends over the metal ring
to give it a “tail” look.
Tuck all the loose fabric over the metal ring for a “bun” look.

No tying is even needed! My favorite, the Sandy style (shown), is pink cotton with sequins on headband – it dresses up even the most casual of days. And they run about $25, which is wallet friendly, too!

Hairfree Brushes

Don’t you hate cleaning out your hairbrush? A while back I was introduced to hairfreé™ self-cleaning hairbrushes. This line of brushes is very unique. You simply slide up a button and push all the hair out of it. It’s much cleaner and easier than a traditional hairbrush.

A cool feature of these brushes is that you can convert each one to a vent brush by adjusting a knob. With a vent brush, you can speed up the blow drying process. Another big plus is this line of brushes can pretty much replace your flat iron and curling iron. Because hairfreé brushes are made with ceramic coated plates, you can get similar styling results with the brush and a blow dryer. Flat irons often heat up to over 400 degrees. Anything you can do to avoid that much heat on your hair is a good thing.

You can order hairfreé™ brushes online for $15.95 for the round brush and $9.95 for the flat brush. The shipping and handling is a little steep at $3.75 and $3.25 respectively. Yet their FAQ section says “Shipping, handling and tax is included in the price for all orders placed within the United States.” If you are going to place your order, I would recommend contacting them first to make sure you aren’t going to get overcharged for the s/h charges. They have an email address and phone number on the contact page of their website, hairfree.bz. If you are a salon owner, they also sell in bulk.
