Try This: Neutrogena Mineral Sheers

Every now and again, I’m going to give you the 411 on some products I’m loving. Lucky me, I sometimes get some sweet goodies sent to me for my sampling pleasure. If I like them, I’ll pass their greatness factor on to you. If I don’t, I won’t. So anytime I feature a “Try This”, you can bet it’s been tested and approved of by moi. I’ll be your personal tester, weeding out the gems from the junk.

Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Blush

This time I’m telling you to RUN to the store (or head online) to snatch up as many shades of Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Blush as you can. Here’s the deal: I am a self-proclaimed blush be-yotch. As in, a cosmetic company better have one heckuva great blush to woo me. If it’s streaky, I’m not a happy camper. If the color morphs from one of wonder in the package to clown-like on my face, watch out. And if the application brush sux, they’re boycotted for good…and I’m telling everyone I know to boycott them too.

So…when I find a good ‘un – WAHOO!

And I have found a good ‘un in Neutrogena Mineral Sheers. Just one of the many cosmetics companies to jump on the mineral makeup bandwagon, Neutrogena has done a great job with their powder blushes. The packaging is simple, compact and genius, and unlike so many other makeup lines, each of the shades this blush comes in are flattering to my skin tone in the right situation. I’ve tried a few, and they all compliment me, depending on what I’m wearing (and if I’ve actually slept and drank something other than coffee or Diet Coke). And compared to some high-end lines, the price is right.

I urge you to check them out and let me know your thoughts. If you already use this, do you love it? Inquiring minds want to know.

how does it work? its complicated. my sister just bought it and she didn’t know how to use it, so i went online and search, and i ended up in this page. so how does it work??

  2. Liberty says:

    Hi Diana,

Looks complicated, I know, but it’s actually a cinch. See that plastic around the bristles of the brush? Push it down, exposing the brush. Now, tip it upside down and shake a couple times. Blot a little on your hand to be sure it’s dispensing. When you see some on your hand, you’re good to go. Shake more product out between cheeks or every couple swipes, depending on how much color you need. When you’re done, pull the plastic back up around the brush and pop the cap back on. Done!

Have fun getting bee-you-tee-full and thanks for stopping by! :)

  3. Hi this is a ridiculous question, but I was wondering if you had tips for what color? I am a fair blonde with some tan….(am buying it online and can’t really tell)…

  4. Liberty says:

    Hey Claire –
Not a ridiculous question at all!! And as luck would have it, I too am a fair blond with some tan (although my “some tan” can barely even qualify as such right now!)

Here are the colors I use the most:

    1. Natural Apricot (#20) – This, no surprise, is a nice warm, natural peachy color that works best as a highlighter and on the apples of your cheeks. Adds a nice, healthy glow without being over-powering.

    2. Precious Pink (#20) – A very dainty pink that adds just a touch of color and sheen. Also best as a highlighter and on your apples. This is a bit light to use on a pale face, but if you want to accentuate your tan, this is a good choice. I am certain I will be using this one more during the summer months.

    3. Pure Plum (#50) – My favorite of the 3 and the one I use daily. When I first got this, I thought it would be waaaay too dark, but it’s absolutely perfect for a natural-looking pick-me-up during the colder months. I use this one more for definition of my cheekbones and also dust it across my forehead for a little color. I will likely keep this as my winter shade, as pairing this with rosy or sun-kissed cheeks might be a bit much. But for now, it’s my go-to shade.

Just so you know, it’s almost impossible to overdo the color with these. The way the powder is dispensed makes for a very even application and is easily adjusted. I can’t say enough about these sheers.

Hope this helps, Claire. Thanks for stopping by and if you have any other questions, be sure to ask away! :)

okay so i have like medium carmel skin or brown and i want to know what color blush would look good on me.

  6. Liberty says:

    Hi Ashley,
If you prefer a sun-kissed color, you’d love the Natural Apricot. That would look beautiful with your skin tone.

If you need to go more dramatic or if it’s wintertime, try the Pure Plum. I apply it lightly to my fair skin and get great color, but if you apply it more heavily, it might be just right for your caramel skin.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck! :)
