In the Present with Gwyneth Paltrow

A Gift to Fashion Fodder
Sniff, sniff. Ew, boy. I’m smelling another trend here, and I don’t likey at all. Here’s another one of those big-ass bows totally distracting from the dress at hand, this time on Gwyneth Paltrow. Seriously, all I can think about is how she looks like a gift. And how I want to take it back.
Frankly, I see lots of stuff wrong here (hello, Payless Summer Sandal Sale-esque shoes), but the bow is the worst. Chop off the bow, switch the shoes to some strappy silver wonders, and replace the clutch with something a little more complementary and she’d be looking fly. But as is, no way, Jose.
And dahlings, if you ever feel the urge to resurrect the early eighties by sporting a floppy bow of any sort, please remember these wise words: Oh. Hell. No.
Thank you. That is all.

Good Gawd!
That dress reminds me of my Great-Grandma’s dress she had, although she also had the matching hat for her tea parties.
Hey klassy, why don’t you dig that frock out and wear it to your girl-child’s next tea part-ay? Then take pix and we’ll post ‘em here. Yanno, give Gwynnie a run for her money….
Yah know, I love Gwyneth to pieces. But I thought the same things when I saw this
. I’m not much on big bows on the neck. I can’t get over the shoes. I’m pretty sure Payless has better shoes than that..LOL. I’m so sad but I still love her
.
Big bows are never ok – even I know that. Although, oddly for pink, I like the dress if you did get rid of the bow. It’s a wee bit go go girl.
It’s totally retro, isn’t it, Jennifer? I would adore this dress sans the bow. It ruins the whole damn thing. What a pity.
And Dexie, if anyone knows about inexpensive stylish shoes, dahling, it’s you. If Gwynnie is pinching pennies (which I somehow doubt), Girl needs to at least spring for some decent strappy pumps. Gawd.
Maaaaaybe for a special night with the hubby? “Hey, I’m your gift!”
Oh dear, i just went there. But nope, she is a big girl now and we just can’t really pull off big bows on the clothes anymore! And by big, i do mean grown – the over 30 set not sporting this look so well.
Maybe on Apple?
ehhhh…..
(And it looks like it is attacking her face. Maybe it is a parasite she’s unaware of. Don’t ya love how i try to excuse all this bad behaviour?
)
