Wowza!  Lady GaGa showed up for the ACE Awards in New York on November 2 at Cipriani’s in a jeans, T-shirt and flip-flops!  Nope…not really…I just thought that would be more shocking that what she DID show up in, which was the completely predictable over-the-top Lady GaGa extremism.  She was accepting an award for her contribution to the world of fashion, so I’m glad she lived up to her achievement.

At this point I think that Lady Gaga should actually dress traditionally and THAT would be more unexpected than seeing her on stage in one of these trainwreck numbers.  Ya know what would be super shocking??  To see Lady Gaga in a hoodie, jeans, flip-flops and a ponytail!  Just walkin’ down the street sipping on a Starbucks like Jessica Alba…that would make front page news!

Lady GaGa, what am I going to do with you? Between brillo pad sweaters, Minnie Mouse interpretations and a whole pile of wacky outfits in between, I think it’s safe to say the most surprising thing you could do at this point is show up on the street in a t-shirt and jeans and no makeup.

Quick! Someone get Lady Gaga a sponge – to wipe off that excessive layer of bronzer – and a knife to cut through that enormous Brillo Pad that has disguised itself as a sweater only she would ever even consider wearing out in public. Make that “at all”.

If there is one thing I admire about this outfit from Lady GaGa, it’s the lipstick. This isn’t a natural lip look, nor is it something I recommend you try at home unless you want to frighten your lover and make your cat hide from you. But it takes guts to let someone paint your lips into this severe silent movie pout. It takes even more skill than guts to not let the pout smudge or get gunked up on your teeth.
So good job on that, Lady GaGa.

Well now. I have to say that I am on the verge of being appalled when I look at this photo of Lady GaGa, set to perform with her band.
Now, let me be clear. I’m all for taking risks. I’m all for flashy performance-time outfits. I’m even all for frisky black leather on occasion. But I am NOT for trashy, bathing suit-esque hoochie mama get-ups with mongo leather bows and dominatrix gloves under any circumstances. None at all.
