I am assuming that the completely over-complicated ensemble that she is wearing was designed by her partner for the evening…which is really so utterly confusing!  When the uber-famous fashion designer has produced oodles of gorgeous duds, why would he put her in this yucky foofy drapery of a dress?

Mischa’s black off-the-shoulder floor length crinkly number is completely unflattering.  The transparent voluminous sleeves have way too many floppy bows and there seems to be no shape to the optical illusion horizontal-striped tube that is the dress.  It seems that she tried to add some shape to the dress by wrapping some heavy artillery around her waist, but it just adds more complication to the jumble.

Maybe Zac Posen was playing a joke on her and knew she would wear whatever he asked her to.  He’s thinking haha I got this out of my Grandma’s closet and you think I designed it!  Zac, you are a mean guy.  Mischa, try to find that happy place when you were the beautiful and natural beauty Marisa on The OC.  I miss that girl…I think she is hiding somewhere in the sleeves of this dress.

Seriously though – as much as I might have reservations about the knotted neckline paired with a floral skirt and Alexander McQueen shoes that would be better suited to an outfit that didn’t contain so much bright pink (these neon puppies just want to stand on their own, darling), this is a lovely fresh faced Mischa Barton at the Launch Party for ‘I Heart Ronson” fashion collection designed by Charlotte Ronson for JCPenney.

Maybe my Mischa standards are just that low that I am able to let these strange happenings pass without giving it much of a second thought. But it is seriously nice to see her out on the red carpet without a whole pile of emotional baggage weighing her down.

Let’s hope the road contains more days like this and less sulky sequined moments like a couple weeks ago.

Darling, you’re wearing a gold dress that probably cost a small fortune – don’t you think you should be pleased with how life has turned out? What’s missing? Why so unhappy?

I think at some point dear Mischa is going to have to make a tough decision…a job that involves wearing beautiful clothes but doesn’t offer a lick of privacy…or a quiet existence where no one cares enough to put together an expose on your “fat photos”. Pretty dresses not included.

Strolling through SoHo with new dark hair and a simple black dress, this is a big improvement from the heinous Herbal Essences photoshoot and months of bad clothes and even worse eyeshadow that ensued.

There is no kohl eyeliner here, just a simple swipe of a more subdued hue. Oh sure, the girl still looks tired and a little worn down on life. But that’s really no comparison to being a walking poster child of young Hollywood trainwrecks.

Curvier, well rested and (hopefully) not under the influence. We’re rooting for you Mischa – let’s hope this sober stint sticks.

Wait, haven’t we all seen this movie before?

That’s right, now I recall this is Mischa Barton’s costume du jour for evenings of excessive boozing and debauchery. Got it. There’s no way we can get around being subjected to her googly eyes and disheveled everything.

It seems like the only way we’re ever going to see the old Mischa Barton who we used to love (okay, that might be overstating the truth…let’s call it a “civil non-hate”) is if black eyeliner and booze are removed from her life. Those puffy cheeks, that greasy skin – the eyeliner that is already starting to smudge and this is just the start of what I’m sure was a mess evening.

I do want to point out how much I love the cocktail ring on her left ring finger – but that’s about all the good I have to say about this. And her. The ring you are wearing should not be the highlight of your presence, Mischa.

Hopefully someone in her life sets her straight…soon.

Were you that eager to leave Bungalow 8 that there was no time to stop by the bathroom for a quick makeup check? Are those shoes actually studded?

And did you steal that cheap looking bowler hat from a tricker treater last Halloween?

These are the questions running through my mind while I contemplate how much longer it’s going to take before you (a) clean yourself up and come to grips with the fact that the O.C. was your peak (b) sink even lower, disappearing for a few years then reappearing on a celebrity rehab show.

Either way, this is certainly an entertaining tale of an young Hollywood unraveling to watch.

The dress may have worked on the runway. It may even work on a different woman who has a whole different take on hair and makeup. But Mischa has neither had the dress hemmed, nor given much thought to how unnecessarily dark her eyeliner needs to be and how nude her lipstick unfortunately is.

If this is the way Mischa is going to continue to carry herself then her destiny is only to become another washed up starlet. I partially want to ignore this seemingly inevitable and tragic demise, but then again…it’s so much fun to chuckle about what Mischa is wearing or doing that I can’t help myself. And thus – will continue to make a point of calling her out for the wretched things she wears until she shapes up and gets back to being a respectable young Hollywood actress.

Do all true hipsters carry blackberries too, Mischa? Your inauthentic ploys to be an original are not panning out here. The hat is the worst of it but the plaid with the frilly multi-tiered/colored skirt and grey leggings aren’t helping anything.

Maybe she’s hungover. Or feeling sick. Or sad about the pants Herbal Essences made her wear. Regardless, the hat needs to go.

Certainly Mischa Barton must have learned something in her time partying with the rest of young Hollywood…but something must not have included, gracious behavior and a genuine unposed smile while repping a product like Herbal Essences.

But enough about her attitude. Let’s talk about the ensemble.

Does her stylist hate her? Maybe Mischa slept with her boyfriend. Does a PR rep for Herbal Essences secretly hate The OC and decide take it out on Miss Barton with a horribly unflattering pair of pseudo high fashion denim clamdiggers?

Give your head a shake, Mischa – this is not doing anything for your figure and those shoes are a crazy combination of horrible heel trends of 2009. All wrapped in one.
