Rihanna Shows Up in a Wedding Dress

Rihanna seems to have gotten a little confused about the dress code for the Glamour Magazine 2009 Women of the Year Awards at Carnegie Hall in New York City. While the rest of the women being honored showed up in short cocktail dresses and suits, Rihanna chose to wear what she had hanging in her closet and hadn’t had an opportunity to wear yet…a wedding dress???

Don’t get me wrong…this is a GORGEOUS gown…but it just seems a tad bit inappropriate. Can you say DIVA??? No one else is even wearing formal wear, so why draw so much attention to yourself? This is the WOMEN of the year awards…not WOMAN of the year awards!

Rihanna in Gloved Dress

Rihanna seems to be picking up some style tips from Lady Gaga and Mickey Mouse with this ridiculous black and white single-gloved number that she wore while attending Paris Fashion Week. I’ve looked at this outfit multiple times now and am trying to figure out exactly what is going on. Is there a long white glove built into the sleeve of this dress? Or did she find one over-the-shoulder white glove and decide that she just had to wear it out? And why is the glove so baggy and oversized so that it looks like a Micky Mouse glove?

The more that I look at that white glove piece the more I am fascinated by it. What the heck is it??? Rihanna makes some strange fashion choices, but this is one of the most baffling that I have seen in awhile. Oh yeah and I also should mention that is completely see-through in the back…

We all love and miss Michael Jackson, but please no more of these single-gloved numbers.

Rihanna, Those Tan Pants Have Got To Go

Rihanna looks happy as a clam, but one must wonder if that smile means she doesn’t realize just how unflattering her baggy tan pants really are…through an elastic waistband on there and you officially have yourself a pair of mom pants, Rihanna. Plus I’m just not loving the wide lapels and overly smokey eyes…it’s all too much and I simply expect more from you and your usually so edgy flair.

What I do love are those Louboutin shoes peaking out from under those hideous pants. They give me hope. Let’s scrap everything else, darling – keep the shoes and rebuild this outfit from the ground up for another day.

Rihanna Steps Out In A Minidress And Flats

Sometimes it’s all about putting the right pieces together. Rihanna looks funky and sexy in this floral print and leather one shouldered minidress – but why on earth would she have paired it up with black fringe flats? Were there no heels on hand?

I can understand wanting to keep things comfortable by wearing shoes that are a little more on the foot-friendly side…but darling, you are a pop sensation – the expectation is that you are either casual or all done up. Your dress is all done up but your shoes are out of place for this occasion. They would have worked better for Sunday brunch with the family…whereas the leather is made for getting up to trouble at night.

I continue to think you’re one of our more fashion forward, trendsetting young stars…but these minor eyebrow raisers still perplex me, Rihanna.

Rihanna Is All Smiles In Her Romper

You know, the romper is really growing on me this Summer. I thought I would be tired of it or see more women abuse this trend, but I’m happy to report that more often than not, good decisions like what Rihanna has put together here have been all over the place.

Here is Rihanna stepping out in New York City for some time with her friends at SoHo House and a little shopping at Tom Ford’s. You know you’re jealous of this lifestyle.

While the romper looks comfy and is a lovely color for Rihanna, I can’t say the same for her white bowler hat. Just one detail I might have left in the suitcase for this day trip. But this minor setback is counterbalanced by ridiculously good looking sunglasses that hint at vintage without going all out dirty hipster.

Alright, Rihanna. I’ll see your gray tassle sweater dress and raise you one pair of citrus shaded aviator sunglasses…where do you keep coming up with such strange style choices?

And why does your hair still like a birdsnest on your head?

I understand that you might be still feeling a bit screwy and off your game from the rough few months you had there…but honey, you have a new man, are poised to bounce back into the spotlight (not just this paparazzi photo hoopla) and be the stellar popstar I know you can be. But not with that hair. And not with this sweater dress. The shoes and jewelry can come with you on your trip back to superstardom, but the rest I insist you leave behind.

What Has Rihanna Done With Her Hair?

Well it looks like the ugly highlights are either gone for good or hiding under another heinous updo from space, but either way…Rihanna’s hair is still a disaster.

Here she is heading into The Sports Cafe in London to watch the NBA conference championship game. Everything else about this look is conveying the kind of risky casual couture that I have come to expect from Rihanna. But her hair makes me want to weep.

It’s not flattering. It’s not risky. It’s just ugly. It’s bad. It’s weird and I want to see it gone, please. Cut it all off, Rihanna – make like Halle Berry and embrace your lovely little features with a pixie cut. But stop subjecting us to these peculiar stylings. It’s running the rest that is good about your lovely appearance.

Rihanna’s Pink Space Suit Isn’t…Bad.

Out of all the outfits Rihanna has subjected us to lately…I’m pretty much okay with this futuristic pink space suit ensemble.It could be that Rihanna has this look on her face that says something along the lines of “Yeah, I know what I’m doing.” Or it might be that the skirt alone is just fabulous enough to compensate for shoulder pads and chunky platform laceup boots. But her appearance at the 3rd Annual DKMS Gala at Cipriani in New York is pretty bold, fearless and oddly fashionable.

I would expect the equivalent on the runway and although you rarely see something as outrageous displayed on the sidewalk in front of tourists and their children, Rihanna is doing a pretty amazing job of carrying the whole thing off.

I think you have something up your sleeve, darling. Not sure what it is yet, but now I’m kind of curious to find out.

Rihanna’s Barely There Thigh High Boots

At what point are we going to see the iconic Jay-Z protege fashionista that we once knew reappear on the scene? Why does it feel as though Rihanna is taking the liberty of piling on every single risky trend into each outfit…as if to distract us from the obvious issues going on in her personal life.

Here we are with sad little streaks in her hair and boots that were not meant to leave the stripclub. Rihanna, you are a beautiful young woman. You know how to pull of red lipstick and your career is just beginning. These kinds of mistakes and poor judgement calls will catch up to you.

Bring back the Rihanna who took calculated risks and leave that ugly leather jacket at home. And please for the love of God dye your hair back.

Rihanna’s Bright Pink Kicks

Poor Rihanna. Still the object of much scrutiny for her romantic relationships, she appears to have found some neon colored shoes to make her feel better.

Is this regression back to childhood? Well, the purple sunglasses and grey hoodie aren’t helping matters. Neither are the too-tight skinny pants.

Let’s hope Rihanna emerges on the other side looking more fabulous than ever and certainly more fabulous than this. Soon.
