As we usher in the new year, we take a look back at the Best and Worst of 2008, along with a look ahead to 2009. From all the Splendicity bloggers, here are some of our favorite (and not so favorite) things from the world of beauty and fashion.

I have never been fond of the blue jean shorts and stockings look. It just looks weird and tacky to me, but it sure is a hot celebrity look.

Take a look at Katie Holmes as she is leaving her New York apartment today (December 28). Katie was headed to her matinee performance of “All My Sons”. Luckily she didn’t wear this ensemble in the play.

Katie was also seen in a pair of fingerless gloves yesterday. Now that is a look that I like! I just think it’s cute and adds a nice touch to an outfit. Not everyone can pull it off, but it definitely works for Katie Holmes.

Just take a look at the Beckhams as they arrive at the Heathrow airport. Are they not one of the most stylish Hollywood families around? Now, I have definitely questioned Victoria Beckham’s wardrobe choice from time to time, but still, even on her bad days she looks better than most.

David and Victoria Beckham arrived at the Heathrow airport with their three sons – Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz. Victoria is sporting her well known trench coat and hat look, that many are saying Katie Holmes stole from her. Now really, who the heck cares who started this look first! The trench coat has been around for a really long time and I am sure Victoria wasn’t the first to say, “hey, I should wear this trench coat with a hat and start a new fad”.

David Beckham opted to wear a hat too and he is looking mighty fine! All the boys are in jeans and they are just cute kids. I like how the middle son has his hood up and looking at the camera like, “get out of my face”.

The Beckhams are proof that becoming a parent doesn’t mean you have to let your style sense go out the window.

On December 14th, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise headed out to the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre for the matinee performance of ‘All My Sons’. Tom Cruise has said in an interview before that Suri doesn’t like to wear jeans. They have a hard time getting her out of her favorite article of clothing…dresses.

Well, who knows how they got her in these jeans, but she is wearing them rolled up, just like her momma used to do. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Katie in her boyfriend style jeans. I must say, I like the rolled up jean look on Suri much better. Very cute!

Teri Hatcher arrived at the David Letterman show with a ripped dress! The fabric on her dress was coming right off. Oh wait, I think the dress is actually made that way. My bad.

Teri looks gorgeous, but that outfit is odd. Just plain odd. I can’t decide if it looks stranger from the front or the back. Hmmm…definitely looks weirder from the back. Don’t you think so?

I am not sure what she was thinking when she picked this out. Maybe she just wanted something different. I say, rip off the shimmery fabric and use it as a shawl or something. I am sure it was chilly there that night.

Miley Cyrus rode a BOLT float for the 82nd annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. BOLT is her new Disney movie, where she does the voice of Penny.

It was very chilly on Thanksgiving in New York and Miley bundled up in a very cute outfit. She wore a white coat, gloves and hat with a red and blue scarf. I have a thing for white coats. She balanced all of the white with a pair of black skinny jeans and black boots. I love the buckle on the boots and the zipper in the front.

Miley looked absolutely adorable for the parade and even though she was freezing, she still looked good and smiled for the crowd.

Victoria Beckham exudes class and style wherever she goes. I don’t always like her apparel choices, but she never does anything half way. She’s Victoria Beckham! The world expects her to look amazing all the time. Let me tell you, I am so glad I don’t have that kind of pressure on myself everyday. How exhausting it must be!

On November 19th, Beckham dined at Beso in Hollywood at a private event. No word on what the private event was. I just know that I wasn’t invited. Beso is owned by the gorgeous and always stylish Eva Longoria.

Take a look at Mrs. Beckham as she is strolling along the sidewalk. Her dress is HOT! It fits her like a glove and accentuates all the right, um, parts of her body. It’s a simple dress, but has so much style at the same time. Add on top of that her gorgeous shoes and adorable pixie hair cut. Simple, classy, amazing.

On November 10th, Taylor Swift arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theater for her guest appearance on the ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ in New York City. Swift just went through a public break-up, well she at least made it public. She revealed on the Ellen Degeneres show that Joe Jonas broke up with her on a 27 second phone call. She was obviously crushed, but let me tell you…she knows how to look amazing and Joe Jonas is an idiot!

Look at this outfit! I am drooling over her skirt and decorative hose. She did everything right. She wore a fitted black turtleneck, a gorgeous skirt that has some lace peeking out from underneath and then those hose with the knee high boots. Beautiful outfit, beautiful girl. Men, pft….who needs them!

Her choice of clothes continue to amaze me day after day. She was wearing a fish net top, thankfully she had a bra underneath it. I think fish net stockings are absolutely hot if you wear them right, but a fish net top? Puhleeze! Send it back to the 80’s and let’s be done with them!

I do have one compliment for Ms. Winehouse. Seriously, I do. Her hair hasn’t looked this good in forever. I like the short curly look on her. Kudos to her for getting one thing right.

Paris Hilton is REALLY into color coordinating isn’t she? One day it’s red, the next day it’s pink and yesterday it was blue day. Yay for blue day! *puke*

Paris stepped out in a blue track suit – pants, shirt, jacket, the whole nine yards – and even blue sunglasses to match! I am glad she broke it up with some black shoes and a hat, but still….ew. From looking closely at the pictures, I think she even drove away in a blue car, lol.

She had a very busy schedule of spray tanning, shopping and chatting away on the cell phone.

You know, I bet she even has those Sunday through Saturday underwear. One less decision she has to make during the day. I wonder what today’s color is?
