They complain, they usually don’t know how to work with a figure that isn’t 24 inches around and some of the designs end up looking like a mess. This was definitely the case once again. You’d think by now, PR would know better than to require …read more

Project Runway look-for-less designs
January 30, 2010 by Samantha Cabrera

With two looks, there was a lot of room for error on week 3 of Project Runway. The high end looks were lacking creativity, and the look-for-less looks were lacking everything! For the background that most of these designers possess, I have to say I am not impressed with the handiwork. More Project Runway designs after the jump!
The craftsmanship leaves a lot to be desired. Check out this week’s mix of high end and affordable looks and let me know which are your faves.

Project Runway week 3 recap + Ping is out

Last night the designers worked in teams for the first time. This is usually a bad thing considering “artists” have rather eclectic personalities. After hitting the Met for some inspiration from classic designers like Balenciaga, Dior, et al., the designers were put into teams to create a high end signature look. Does anyone else notice how broad the challenges are this season? It seems they’re going more the way of Launch My Line than old school Project Runway.
The look that sent Ping packing.

Heidi Klum becomes a wax figure

Heidi Klum is now a household name. If you didn’t already know her from her countless Sports Illustrated swimsuit appearances, you now know her as the face of Project Runway. Heidi has done in recent years what supermodels used to do in the ’90s, branding themselves so they had a successful career outside of modeling.

Now Heidi has become a wax figure at Madame Toussad’s in Berlin. For some reason it looks like the Germans want a tarty version of Heidi, as her figure is clad in a sequin dress with a …read more

Nicole Richie on new Project Runway

The new season of Project Runway kicks off next week (yes, already!) and who is the first guest judge? Nicole Richie. It looks like it will be another season of big Hollywood names that don’t know anything about fashion other than slapping their name on a label.

In a matter-of-fact tone, Nicole explains to Michael Kors (of all people) that in order for a collection to work, the designer has to have a vision or a vibe. Thanks, Nicole. I’m sure Michael Kors, one of the biggest names in American fashion, really needs that explained to him by …read more
Project Runway back in January

After a very boring season, Lifetime is bringing back Project Runway. Remember we had a Project Runway drought for quite some time due to the Bravo/Lifetime debacle, but with the last seeing being as dull as it was, I kind of wish they would have held off to give us more Runway.

In this week’s issue of Us Weekly, there’s a small profile of many of the designers. Remember this season puts us back in New York City, which is a good thing and there are a lot of experienced designers in the bunch, including a merchandiser and a …read more
Video with Project Runway winner Irina

Project Runway 6 winner Irina may not have had to turn out the claws to win the crown, but there was definitely animosity between her and Althea when it came down to the final collections. While Irina ended up winning, she also lifted the phrases used for many of her T-shirts from New York Magazine’s annual Reasons to Love New York. Since there’s a solid chance that Irina will fall off the face of the planet and into the black hole that is every other Project Runway winner other than the incomparable Christian Siriano, I’m pretty sure New York Magazine …read more
