My Classic Top 5 Fall/Winter Must-Haves
By end of August, I start thinking about Fall fashion. I start dreaming about the classic pieces in my wardrobe waiting to hit my “runway”(grocery stores, malls, school meetings, Church..LOL) out. The Fashion world always gives out what the Hot trends are each year. I do like certain trends. But as always, I stick to the pieces I know would look stylish every year. It doesn’t matter if it’s 1999, 2005 or 2007. If you have key pieces in your closet, you can easily incorporate whatever trend is dictated to us. This is THE 101 of styling on a budget. Know and learn what looks good on you and work around it to give it a modern twist. No one would ever suspect you’ve had that shirt dress for 10 years. Unless of course you feel confident to disclose it
.
So what are my Classic Top 5 Fall/Winter Must-Haves?

KNEE-HIGH BOOTS
If there is one pair of shoe you must really have for Fall/Winter, it’s these kind. You can wear it skirts, dresses, jeans and pants.
TRENCH COATS/BLAZERS/JACKETS
It’s cold so better cover up. I prefer fitted blazers/jackets.
DRESSES
They’re not only for Spring/Summer. A dress paired with knee-high boots will make you look chic and sophisticated.
SKIRTS
Same thing with dresses.
NEUTRAL/BOLD COLORS
Incorporate the nature colors with the aforementioned items and you are fit for the season.
How to mix and match it with new trends?
It’s easy. This year, Gray is supposed to be the color for Fall. A gray top will look good with any skirt or pants. Wide belts made a really big splash this year. You can just as easily infuse that with a shirt dress as I’ve illustrated in this post, or blouses. Make sure not to do it with wrap-dresses though. it would look really weird. Colors of Purple, Red, Wine are hot for Fall so pick tops, dresses or skirts in this line.
Remember when ponchos made a big comeback like 2 or 3 years ago? Everyone went gaga for it. I joined the hoopla and got me one then rocked it for Fall during those years over a butterfly sleeves blouse with my classic items : denim knee length skirt and knee-high boots.

See my philosophy is, not to go over board in following what’s supposed to be trendy in a particular year. I take it into advisement and see how I could make it work with the tried and tested styles I love to rock during the season.
So, what are your Classic Top 5 Fall/Winter Must Haves? By the way, watch out for bargain items on each categories in the coming days. I’ll help you out in finding affordable classic pieces for your Fall/Winter ensembles that you’ll be able to wear in the coming years as well
