Top 5 Reasons I SAY NO TO LEGGINGS Thanks To Sienna Miller

I mentioned in the Fall skirts entry that I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing leggings underneath. Well, since our SAY NO TO UGGS post was so popular, I thought I’d share you my top 5 reasons on why I’ve avoided wearing leggings when it suddenly became, errrrr, trendy thanks to an untalented starlet whom I want to bitch slap from here ’till Sundays, being called a fashion icon whose only credits to her name is sleeping with a Hollywood “hottie” who turned out to be a lying-cheating son of a gun sleeping with his Nanny and coming up with outfits only herself understands why. Wheww, that was a mouthful. So here are my top 5 :
- I’m a 30 yr old SANE fashionista.
- I’m not my 1 yr. daughter, not my 4 yr old niece, nor am I my 13 yr old niece either.
- I don’t ever want to look like I’m trying too hard to be trendy.
- I don’t want to slap myself uncontrollably for ever following anything that Sienna Miller deemed stylish
- Nor do I want to slit my throat with a rusty knife for ever following a trend started by a crazy woman named Sienna Miller who thinks she can walk around wearing a controlled pantyhose over a granny panty with a straight face, let alone a smile. [refer to the picture below.]
So. I don’t care if leggings starts selling for a penny. I’m not going to buy them anytime soon. Unless it’s for my daughter. Care to share your reasons on why you also SAY NO TO LEGGINGS? Or on why you say YES?

SM was cute in Keen Eddie, even in Alfie where she canoodles with Jude on-screen. I like her bohemian style, definitely not for me but it (sometimes) works for her. It also doesn’t help that she’s got public royalty through her bloodlines!

Leggings should be left in the 80s where they belong! I don’t see how that could possibly be “fashionable”. Don’t even get me started on the leggings with heels or leggings worn as PANTS. Aiyah!
Sorry, must disagree. I love them. A 3/4 legging under a dress can make your calves look seriously skinny.
However, NO leggings as pants and no black leggings with a dress that is completely a different colour.
You have to blend your look like everything else.
Icy, I prefer opaque tights. And yes, no different colors.
I absolutly LOVE leggings. I mean it SOOOO hot and I would pick leggings over jeans any day (cause I don’t like to wear shorts)! I mean they come in so many colors and u can dress them up but I do say NO to wearing them as pants

As for leggings…normally, it’s a big fat “No” from the Glamour Cove, although a select few chicks can carry it off (like high school and college girls). For the rest of the world…you’d better really do it right–and that’s hard to do.

I love leggings! I mean, seriously, I think minis can look reaaaaally too short w/out them.
Back in the 80s I _lived_ in ‘em. They were cute with tunics and long sweaters. I don’t think they’d be flattering on me now, though. The stuff Sienna Miller is wearing in those pictures are truly horrible; “old school” is definitely better!

Dane, whatever floats your boat. There’s nothing wrong with Leggings, pantyhose, tights. I wear the latter myself, underneath a skirt. What’s wrong is when a woman thinks she can wear pantyhose as pants. It’s not sexy, nor is it stylish. What it is is a desperate woman trying too hard.
i agree with you Dexie…ill wear the occasional opaque tights, if i didnt shave, or its cold….well, to be honest i dont particularly wearing skirts above the knee without tights….but LEGGING???? id have to say no…..i wore them….occasionally….. in highschool when they werent so trendy, but after i graduated, it was like, every emo teenie bopper and their grandma were wearing them. they just scream “sitting inside starbucks with your 5 dollar coffee with extra foof listening to the whiney “singer-songwriter” covering the cure, all while you complain about how your parents ‘just dont understand’”…….it pisses me off….and at the same time, i enjoy watching them….cause their ‘problems’ are sooo superficial, i just think of how they would respond to real human everyday problem…..and then i worry.
