$20 Sale From edressme

Fabulous sale at edressme.com. I’m going crazy looking at the beautiful dresses that are on sale for $20. I’m also visualizing what shoes and accessories to go with it while I peruse the site. Let me share some of the dresses I like.

Here is a Toggery by Kate D’Arcy Boatneck dress. You can wear it the way the model has but I would wear it with a either a skinny or wide black belt on the waist, black tights underneath, and a pair of black booties.

Another Little Black Dress to add to your wardrobe. This one is from Essentials by ABS. I have a similar looking black gladiator pumps like the model is wearing, but I think I’ll spice up this LBD with my red gladiator pumps instead.

If you are looking for a metallic silver gown, here’s one from edressme. It’s something elegant to wear for this year’s upcoming holiday parties perhaps?

Shoe Shopping : Qupid Black Bootie

Along with the Anne Michelle Red Gladiator Pumps, I also bought a pair of Qupid Black Bootie. It’s my first pair of ankle boots. Finally, I have one.

I bought this Qupid Black Bootie from UrbanOG for $26.99. It’s pointed-toe but not as pointed as regular pumps. The bootie has a faux suede like texture and slight slouch look on the front. The lace-up tie is in the back which gives you an option to lace all the way or just the first 2 holes. The latter way gives it that wing-fold over look. The back lace up tie is my favorite detail. It gives it that sexy and trendy feel. There is a plaid lining as well.

I’ll be wearing this as is with fall dresses and skirts or with black tights underneath the dress. It makes me want to buy another in either grey or tan brown but I think I’ll just stick to this 1 pair for this year. I have enough boots to last me this Fall season. Knee-highs, and now a bootie!

Bargain Shopping : CATO Turquoise Necklaces

Besides the $13 yellow bag that I found from CATO a week ago, I also found 2 turquoise necklaces that are on sale for $3.99 each.

Aren’t they gorgeous? The first one consists of oblong and small rounded beads. The second one is made of wood. As you can see, the large pendant is a cutout circle, along with turquoise & brown small wooden balls.

I have a lot of dresses and tops that would complement well with any of these necklaces. I’m excited .

Bargain Shopping : Meet My Yellow Bag

I have been wanting a yellow tote since summer of last year. I just never got the courage to actually buy one. Yellow is a fun color but it’s also hard to “match” it with most of my daily outfits. I know I would be able to work it with a few but I still wasn’t willing to pay too much for something I’ll occasionally carry around.

Those thoughts have kept me from buying a yellow bag that I’ve actually forgotten about it. Until a week ago or so. I was at CATO and getting ready to pay for the bargains I found for myself when at the back of the cashier is a bag shelf which said “Clearance”. And on it is a lone yellow bag that called for my name. I hesitated for so long that the Cashier has finished ringing up my loot until I finally decided to get it.

CATO Yellow Tote

This Yellow Tote from CATO was on sale for only $13. I figured since I wouldn’t be carrying a yellow bag around that much, a medium-sized one with a bargain who actually looks gorgeous would do. I love how the top overlaps to hide the zipper. I also love the black trims with the thick chains adorning the bag. The yellow color is not too bright. It’s actually more like a pastel yellow so it doesn’t hurt the eyes at all.

Wouldn’t you know it, I just bought a black belted trench dress that I know would look nicely with my new $13 yellow bag. I’ll talk about the dress some other time. It the meantime, how do you like my yellow bag?

5 Tips On Thrift Store Shopping

Due to how the economy is doing, Thrift Store Shopping is now the ‘It” thing to do when it comes to shopping. While I’m glad it is, I can’t help but smirk and say. “I Told You So” at the same time. Seriously, most of us in the world are budget conscious people. Sure we love designer items but we also know it’s not always practical to buy a $1200 bag, or shoes, or dress for that matter.

Here are some 5 Thrift Store Shopping Tips you might be able to use to help you out just in case it’s your first time to venture inside a Goodwill, Thrift Stores, or Flea Markets.

Thrift Store Shopping

SMELL — Make sure an item smells like it has actually been washed. You don’t want to buy something that smells like a body odor perfumed was sprayed all over it. The same thing goes with shoes. The last thing you need is sliding your feet into a pair of shoes that smells like a dead rat has lived in it. Not that Thrifty Stores sell them but you never know.

DAMAGES — Be meticulous. Check out the stitching on each parts. The armpits, hems, collars, and crotches. If there are missing buttons on a blouse, dress, or skirt, it’s up to you if you want to take time replacing the buttons yourself. You could easily do that yourself if you like mending clothes to make them look new. Make sure the straps on a handbag are actually attached or locks on an accessory actually closes tight.

STAINS — Check every part of the fabric to make sure there are no stains. I don’t think you want to walk around with a wine, or food, or worse, Blood stains on your clothes.

FIT — Just because an item is $3, if it doesn’t fit then there’s no point in buying it. But you can’t try things on at some Thrift Stores? I’m assuming you’ve been shopping all your life. I think by now you know what size fits your body or feet. If you plan on taking a bigger size to a tailor to get it fixed then that’s fine but more often than not, that’s not the case. You’re not going to fit your size 8 feet onto a pair of size 7 shoes. I don’t care if that Nine West Black Pumps is $5. Step away from it.

PRICE — Think smart. Some thrift stores don’t actually have thrift prices. If you think a price is too high for a second-hand item then it probably is. If you think you can buy a brand name item in new condition at an even or lesser price from another store like TJMaxx, Ross, or Marshall’s, then by all means do the most practical thing to do. Thrift stores finds are great and all but there are certain items that are tagged higher than they should be.

5 Places To Bargain Shop

When it comes to bargain shopping there are 5 places I could honestly tell you that I frequent a lot. I actually have more than that, maybe about 10 places to bargain shop but I’m only going to share with you the 5 places I mostly go to for bargain shopping.

CATO

CATO – I’ve only discovered CATO about 2 years ago actually. Before that, whenever I saw the commercials featuring beautiful dresses and tops I thought they were expensive. The first time I visited the store inside a mall I was surprised how reasonable the prices are. I could walk in there, grab 5-6 items and only spend about $50. That’s because I usually go to the clearance racks. The ones that aren’t on sale are still pretty affordable but I learned early on that if I wait at least 2 weeks, some of the items from the regular racks would be on the clearance racks with their respective sale prices. CATO has tops, dresses, jeans, shirts, shoes, accessories and even home decors. Plus Size line is also available. To describe CATO more clearly is by calling it the feminine, grown-up yet trendy version of Forever21. If you’ve ever thought that CATO is for old women I’m telling you now, you are wrong. 30’s is hardly old. Step inside one time, check out their clearance racks and I can assure you that you’ll be inside a CATO store every 2 weeks or so.

TJMaxx

TJMaxx is the quintessential place to shop for brand names in affordable prices. You will find brands like XOXO, Jessica Simpson, DKNY Jeans, Nine West, Unlisted, just to name a few. TJMaxx is similar to ROSS. They pretty much carry the same brands in good prices. I say the more stores like that, the merrier. I’m just hoping one of them doesn’t close like Goody’s which also carried the same brand items in bargain prices. The trick on finding really good stuff at TJMaxx is having patience. When you first enter the store, you’ll see racks right next to each other. It could get overwhelming even to someone like me who likes to dig for bargains. If you decide to go bargain shopping at TJMaxx I suggest you have a clear head, no rushed schedule, and are willing to dig, dig and dig even more.

Old Navy

OLD NAVY is one of my favorite go-to place for jeans. I’ve found other items there of course but I’m happy to say that Old Navy Jeans fit perfectly with my body. I’m blessed with curves and well-endowed bottom. Besides L.E.I and Levi’s jeans, ON Jeans fit me nicely. Old Navy fashion tends to be trendy as well but it has classic aspects to it. Of course you can’t ignore how affordable Old Navy clothing are too. It’s a perfect place for the whole family to shop at.

Wal*Mart

Wal-Mart — If you look beyond the name of Kathie Lee Gifford’s clothing line, you’ll be surprised to discover trendy and stylish items from Wal-Mart. Brands like No Boundaries, Metro7, GEORGE, and surprisingly, Levi’s as well. I have found many fashionable and affordable things from Wal-Mart through out the years. I’ve found dresses, tops, skirts, shorts, and shoes. And like I said, Levi’s jeans and jackets. I give Wal-Mart credit in paving the way for my flats obsession. For a long time I refused to by myself a pair of flats because I prefer heels but one day I saw a blue polka-dot flats for $7 and my flats love-affair sprouted like crazy ever since.

Payless

PAYLESS — This is THE shoe store where I buy my shoes all the time. I love the prices especially during the BOGO sale. What you see in the picture is just 1/3 of the pairs of Payless shoes that’s in my closet. And yes, I wear them all but not at the same time of course .

There you go, my favorite 5 places to bargain shop. I used my own pictures to show you proof that I actually do shop there and I’m not just blogging about them because it happens to be my job that I love. I hope you consider these places if you haven’t already. They’re the best places to shop at, recession times or not. All you really have to do is dig among the clearance racks and have a sense of what you like to wear to represent your style identity.

On this crappy rainy day, I did a virtual shopping at Charlotte Russe’s clearance rack on it’s online store and here are the items I found.
