To tell you the truth, when I first saw Natalie Portman at the 2009 Oscar’s red carpet in her Rodarte pink strapless dress, I wasn’t really that impressed. I thought she looked pretty and the dress is beautiful but I wasn’t that blown away by it. But a few days went by and I find myself loving the Rodarte dress. It was probably the 2nd pink dress at the red carpet. The other one was Alicia Key’s Armani Prive lilac dress. Natalie Portman chose a dress that’s perfect for her. She looked glamourous without trying too hard. So my apologies to Natalie.

Amy Adams looked beautiful in her Carolina Herrera crimson strapless dress during the 2009 Oscar Awards. Having said that, I was bored by it. Most stylists and fashionistas on TV has picked this look apart and the consensus is that the chuncky necklace did not complement the dress. I actually like the necklace but I agree with them. That’s the reason why the dress seemed a bit boring to me. The combination with the necklace just did not go together.

Debra Messing wore a stunning Ralph Lauren black strapless dress at the 2008 Glamour Women of the Year Awards on November 10th. I love how the bodice is fitted with sparkly embellishments then it gathers on the knee with a tulle hem. The dress probably costs a lot  but don’t fret my dears coz I found a black strapless frock that looks almost like it. It doesn’t use the same tulle fabric at the hem but you’ll discover that the shape of the dress is quite similar. And it’s only under $100. YAY.

Faviana’s version of Marcia Cross’ Elie Saab dress is a little different because she used lace to replace the floral applique details. Plus the applique’s were sort of green in color. But, for $338, it’s pretty close. I didn’t actually like the pale color of the Elie Saab dress on Marcia Cross. I love the dress but I think Marcia’s vibrant personality and red hair got lost in the mix.

It took a while for Faviana to recreate Marcia’s dress, no? I imagine she had to find a lace that looks close to Elie Saab’s.  You can buy Marcia Cross’ 2008 Emmy’s Elie Saab dress for less at edressme for $338.
