Covington Grey Plaid Skirt From Sears, $4.99

I actually found something for Fall when I Spring sale shopping at Sears last weekend. I spotted this grey plaid skirt from Covington collection for $4.99. Originally selling for $36. AWESOME. Gray is supposed to be the Fall’s color trend so I’m slightly incorporating it in my wardrobe. Just slightly though. Not going overboard since I like my clothes to transition in any season and any year, . Anyway, back to the Covington skirt. I’m going to wear it tomorrow to Church for our Homecoming with my dark blue MOD blouse from CATO and the black knee-high boots for shoe wear. I wish I have a skinny belt though to cinched in the waist. Oh well. I’ll just have to live without it. For now anyway . I’m going to try to take a picture of the whole ensemble and show you next week.

The Fall Style Poll which started on August 7th has been getting a lot of attention thanks to all of you stylish, fabulous bargain fashionistas . So far we have 21 votes :

8 — dark colors
7 — knee-high boots with dresses/skirts
6 — coats/jackets
0 — baggy clothes (thank God)
0 — UGGS (hallelujah)

Interestingly enough, UGGS is not getting any votes which makes me happy, don’t get me wrong, but where are the UGGS supporters? Maybe coz they prefer wearing them fugly boots during the Summer when it’s sunny in California? Aha, Aha, Aha…….

A SlideShow Of My Spring/Summer Shoes

My family and I are leaving tomorrow for a 1 week vacation in Upstate NY. So I won’t be posting during those times. I could probably check e-mails using my mother-in-law’s computer but other than that I’m going to enjoy our vacation without internet. Well I will try anyway, . I hope you all miss me and my bargains. I originally thought of posting scheduled entries but I don’t feel right not responding to your comments right away and if I post any bargains today, by the time they’re posted, the sale is probably gone. So in lieu of those, I am posting a slideshow of some my bargain shoes that I alternately use during the Spring and Summer seasons. I also use some of them during the Fall and Winter when it’s not too cold since we don’t get snow here in North Carolina anyway. But mostly, I wear my knee-high boots. I didn’t include my platform flip-flops and other spring/summer shoes in the slide show. I was lazy to take pictures, sorry. But anyway, “see” you all in August and enjoy my shoes .

SIL Nay Lister : Take That Bow Somewhere Else

That’s a Libertine Striped Bow Blouse from Target. No offense to the designers Johnson Hartig and Cindy Green who are known for their artful collaboration to create vintage posh and pepster chic but this blouse with big bow tied around the neck won’t be gracing my closet anytime soon. Granted the oversized bow is removable I just don’t see the point of it. I understand they’re trying to maintain their bold approach on their creations but it’s just not my style. Having that bow around my neck would drive me absolutely insane probably close to death. Blame it in my claustraphobia, heh. Now if the bow was in another color and can be easily turn into a waist belt, then that’s another story .

My Own Affair W/ [Bargain] Dresses

I’m following(copying, whatever )in Sasha’s footsteps and declare my own love affair with dresses. Next to shoes(except sneakers and flats), I go insane over dresses. Classics, prints, different fabrics/cuts/styles, bring ‘em all. I wear it during Spring/Summer season with heels and wedges and during Fall/Winter with my knee-high boots. I have my own collection, albeit shoes takes more precedence, I’m slowly getting there in having quite a reasonable selection. In this inset picture(I cropped my hubby’s picture out), I’m wearing a black halter print dress that I found at AAFES years ago for less than $20 I think. I’ve covered it with a Metro7 velvet gray 3/4 sleeves shrug from Walmart, on sale for $3, since it was a cold day in December of last year when I wore it. Stilettos in December, yet cold? Well, that’s the benefit of living in North Carolina. You would still feel the winter cold without running into snow which is AWE-SOME. We’ve lived in NY for 8 years therefore winter without snow in NC is like eating a huge slice of devil’s chocolate cake topped with dollops of whipped cream and a cherry on top. Uh huh. FYI, this picture was taken 4 months post-baby. I’ve lost quite a few more pounds since then. Plus sexy bangs to boot. Just thought I’d throw that in there .

Now on to some of my dresses I picked for this entry…

Plum Halter-Tube Eyelet Dress
I dugged this among the great bargains at ROSS. It was tagged $3.99. I absolutely love the color and you just can’t beat that price. This is the dress I casually mentioned when I showed you my picks from Clothez 2 The Edge store. It has a cord tie-belt around the waist. I haven’t worn it yet coz I’ve reserved it for our vacation in NY at the end of this month.

Multicolor Flower Print Tube Dress
There is a blue rose pin and blue ribbon to accentuate this lovely printed tube dress. This is perfect for a garden wedding party or at Church with a white cropped shrug. If I remember it right, I paid $12 for it from AAFES. The same year I bought the black printed halter dress above.

Tan Brown V-Neck Polka-Dot Wrap Dress
This is the tan version of the black polka-dot dress I found from Goody’s for only $4.99. The original price was $30 so it’s definitely a STEAL. I like to have the same things in different colors so when I saw this tan brown color 2 months after I bought the black version I was smiling for ear to ear .

Except for 1 skinny jeans, the rest are pretty much low-rise, boot-cut jeans. The quiz got me right, even with the denim mini skirt. I would so rock the latter with my long tanned legs. Here’s a sample actually. I would take the lone skinny jeans as a compliment. Maybe I could wear a pair after all. Hmmm…

Too bad I refuse to spend on the price range of 7 For All Mankind Jeans. The highest I’d pay for is $35 from Levi’s but that’s it, heh. Oh well, Levis, OLD NAVY, UNIONBAY even Tommy Hilfiger have the low-rise boot cut jeans I love to wear anyway.

DKNY Cropped Jeans, Come To Mama!

DKNY is one of the few designers I don’t mind indulging on from time to time. When I was still single which was 10 years ago and not necessarily thinking about all sorts of bills, my children’s future, etc, I was wise enough to buy myself 2 DKNY bags. I still have them of course, however, I don’t use them that often. The big one is good for traveling so that’s when it gets it’s own mileage. The other one which is a mini-backpack could serve as a an everyday bag but with all the goodies I fill my purses in order to be ready when my children need something I opt for my cheaper yet sturdy, reliable and stylish bags. Mostly my $10 mock croc tote where I could put everything in except my kitchen sink . Anyway, back to the fabulous Ms. Donna Karan, I have a few of her tops as well. I bought them in sale prices from AAFES. I love being a military wife. Well sometimes . Moving on, I found this Cropped cuffed-pants while perusing the Macy’s clearance page.

Belted Five-Pocket Cuffed Capri in bone color, on sale for $28.00. A very chic denim capri, don’t you think? the O-ring woven belt comes with it. NICE.

Macy’s $9.99 On Sale Dress I Wouldn’t Be Buying

People would probably be surprised to know that not all On Sale clothing items end up in my closet. Just because they’re on sale that doesn’t mean I like them. Yah know. This usually happens because I’m not necessarily impressed with the design or style of a certain item. Not all bargains are stylish worthy. See, I’m a bargain fashionista who knows what looks good on me and tries to stick with my OWN style identity that I’ve cultivated and nurtured for myself through the years. Anyway, enough with the dramatics ……….

Here is a classic example of a sale I’m not jumping up and down for. Peach printed tiered dresss is on sale for $9.99 at Macy’s. It used to be $99. I’m just not too enamored with the print design. Too bad too coz I really like the V-neckline and contrasting empire-waist inset. It just reminds me so much of a quaint Bed and Breakfast curtains.

There is nothing wrong with that as long as it stays as a window accessory, heh!

Style It Less Fashionista : Graphic Tee, ON Jeans and Stilettos

If I’m not in dresses and heels(wedges), I’m wearing jeans and graphic tees and stilettos (or wedge, platform flip flops). Here I am today in my new OLD NAVY long dark-wash boot cut jeans($14.99), L.E.I graphic tee with ruched sides at the hem that I found at AAFES(military department store) last Memorial Day sale for only $4.25. It used to be $17. STEAL!. Black “buckle” stilettos from another AAFES store back when we used to live in NY, $12.

I cuffed the ends of the jeans by the way ‘coz they’re just too long. I don’t want to trip over ‘em with my stilettos, yah know .

The Italian nomination link charms bracelet is probably the most expensive item in this ensemble. Small charms cost about $6 each while the big square ones were $10. I collected these like 3 years ago. As you can see in the “I *heart* My Mom* square, the “heart* is gone. The paint has washed off through the years. So yes, ignore the bracelet..LOL. The whole thing probably costs close to $100 if not more. It’s a timely piece since it represents ME, and my family .Anyhooo, the other tan wood and beads bracelet was only $1. The heart shaped pendant necklace colorful crystal studs was a gift from Krisa. Sterling silver hoop earrings for my ears. The black sunnies was $5 I think. I can’t remember anymore. But I know it’s a cheap one from somewhere I also can’t remember. I’m having a “Mommy Brain” right now. I apologize.

Nevertheless, I look good, Hah.

Wrap Polka-Dot Dress On Sale From Macy’s

I have been really in love with polka-dot prints lately. Well actually, it started late last year. I’ve bought dresses and tops with dots on ‘em to appease this burgeoning addiction of mine. Even underwear actually, . I’ve oogled at polka-dot shoes as well but I haven’t taken that plunge yet though. I’m sure it won’t be long now though.

For you my fabulously thrifty stylish readers, I found a polka-dot wrap dress from Macy’s on sale for $36.75. Down from it’s original price of $98. NICE.

This sophisticated wrap dress with surplice V-neckline that ties in the back can be worn anywhere. At work, or a casual date with friends or your hubby/bf. Pair it with a black pair of stilletos or red heels and you are good to go
