While admiring the makeover that UrbanOG recently got last weekend, I also saw a sale promo which said Free Shipping for $50 or more purchase. I immediately did a mental inventory on what shoes do I really need right now. I thought of a pair of black pumps. A patent kind to be specific. Now if I find something affordable I could include that with a few more pairs to get the FREE Shipping. I was determined to get the latter deal and I knew I could do it with a few more pairs of shoes that would be a good addition to my closet.

I ended up with 4 pairs, overall total of $54.96 and YES, free shipping. Individual feature on each shoe after the fold.

This is Wild Diva Gathered Pumps in navy blue. I have been wanting a pair of navy blue pumps for a while now so when I saw that these pair is on sale for $14.99 I said, “hey, now is the time to get one”. It actually looks better in person than the pictures. It has a satin round-toe and gathered design on the front.

I actually wanted either the fuchsia or turquoise colors of this Breckelle Pancy Strappy Sandal. But neither color have my size. I really like the strappy cage-like style and since I don’t have a pair of gold tone shoes I figured, I might as well. The sale price of $8.99 certainly convinced me even more. Good thing I bought it then coz now the size is gone. Maybe I purchased the last one, wheww.

Besides navy blue, I have also been drooling over purple colored pumps and stilettos. Every time I see one I get really tempted to buy it but I somehow managed to stop myself. I keep telling myself that a purple pair of shoes would be hard to pair with something unless I’m going to a wedding. However, the mismatching trend is the new black nowadays so to speak so I finally gave in. Besides, giving up that $11.99 sale price would have been stupid, no? The rhinestone decor on the front and the pleating on the back are just BEAUTIFUL. My feet look beautiful with them on too.

And finally, the black patent pee-toe pumps from Wild Diva as well. This was on sale for $17.99 and good thing I got it then coz I can’t find the shoes on the website anymore. A pair of black pumps goes with everything so if you don’t have one yet, get a pair now.

If you are wondering about the qualities of shoes from stores like UrbanOG, of course it’s nothing compare to Christian Louboutin or Manolo’s but not all of us can afford those. I’m not going to be wearing any of these pair of shoes everyday. Therefore I am able to take care of my shoes and make them last for a while. With these new addition in my shoes collection I’ll be able to play around more and feel confident that if an occasion or my mood calls for it, I have a pair ready to be aired out. And all I had to do was take advantage of the FREE Shipping promo from UrbanOG. YAY!

Fall Shopping: Trench Dress & Black Top

I have a few new Fall items in my closet that I haven’t shared with you guys. Right now let me show you 2 black items that I’m looking forward to wear as soon as it gets cooler.

I actually bought this CATO black belted dress the same time I bought my yellow tote which was back in June. I have been waiting patiently to wear this dress. It’s still warm here so I’ll have to wait. I’m planning to wear this with either any of my red heels, particularly the Anne Michelle Red Gladiator Pumps that I bought last month, and the Wild Diva Knee-High Boots. This black belted trench dress was on sale for $24.99 at CATO.

I found this black sheer embroidered peasant top at TJ Maxx a couple of days ago. It was on sale for $10. It’s sheer but don’t worry, I’m going to wear a black tank top underneath. I feel in love with the embroidery right away. This would look great worn with jeans and a pair of heels.

Shoe Shopping : Qupid Black Bootie

Along with the Anne Michelle Red Gladiator Pumps, I also bought a pair of Qupid Black Bootie. It’s my first pair of ankle boots. Finally, I have one.

I bought this Qupid Black Bootie from UrbanOG for $26.99. It’s pointed-toe but not as pointed as regular pumps. The bootie has a faux suede like texture and slight slouch look on the front. The lace-up tie is in the back which gives you an option to lace all the way or just the first 2 holes. The latter way gives it that wing-fold over look. The back lace up tie is my favorite detail. It gives it that sexy and trendy feel. There is a plaid lining as well.

I’ll be wearing this as is with fall dresses and skirts or with black tights underneath the dress. It makes me want to buy another in either grey or tan brown but I think I’ll just stick to this 1 pair for this year. I have enough boots to last me this Fall season. Knee-highs, and now a bootie!

Bargain Shopping : Meet My Yellow Bag

I have been wanting a yellow tote since summer of last year. I just never got the courage to actually buy one. Yellow is a fun color but it’s also hard to “match” it with most of my daily outfits. I know I would be able to work it with a few but I still wasn’t willing to pay too much for something I’ll occasionally carry around.

Those thoughts have kept me from buying a yellow bag that I’ve actually forgotten about it. Until a week ago or so. I was at CATO and getting ready to pay for the bargains I found for myself when at the back of the cashier is a bag shelf which said “Clearance”. And on it is a lone yellow bag that called for my name. I hesitated for so long that the Cashier has finished ringing up my loot until I finally decided to get it.

CATO Yellow Tote

This Yellow Tote from CATO was on sale for only $13. I figured since I wouldn’t be carrying a yellow bag around that much, a medium-sized one with a bargain who actually looks gorgeous would do. I love how the top overlaps to hide the zipper. I also love the black trims with the thick chains adorning the bag. The yellow color is not too bright. It’s actually more like a pastel yellow so it doesn’t hurt the eyes at all.

Wouldn’t you know it, I just bought a black belted trench dress that I know would look nicely with my new $13 yellow bag. I’ll talk about the dress some other time. It the meantime, how do you like my yellow bag?

Recession Shoes Shopping : Pumps & Flats

All this recession talks have rendered me depressed at least twice a day. My husband even warned me to stop being depressed because he can’t afford to send me to an institution because of the recession. Isn’t he sweet? Then one day while watching the Financial portion of NBC’s TODAY show, an expert told Meredith Viera that people need to stop getting depressed about the economy. It’s really the last thing any of us should feel or do.

That statement gave me a major epiphany. I’d probably get some eye rolling from some of you for sharing this but I took my credit card out, went to Cutesy Shoes and bought 2 pairs of shoes.

Bumper Lydia Gladiator Platform Pumps

This Bumper Lydia Gladiator Platform Pumps is $24.90. Good thing I bought this the day I did because when I went to get the link the following day, my size was gone. I was probably the person who got it.

Classified White Gladiator Flats

I need a pair of white gladiator flats so I bought this Classified White studded gladiator flats for $18.99.

Shoes has always gotten me out of any rotten feelings I have. Does that mean I buy shoes when I’m feeling down? Of course not. I just wear the shoes I have and walk around the house with them on. If just happens that I actually “needed” these new shoes trends in my collection so I figured why not?. Do I feel much better after buying these 2 pairs of shoes? Of course. Plus I spent money which inadvertently helps the economy, right? I’m waiting sooooo patiently for these new pairs of shoes to arrive in my doorstep. I’d show them off once they get here. I promise .

Recession Shopping : Plaid Print Dresses

I told myself I wouldn’t wear plaid prints. I refused to wear it actually. But, as always in life and in fashion, Never Say Never. Remember my flats aversion? Now I’m moving on to the plaid trend.

Plaid Patterned Dress

I saw this Plaid Babydoll Dress at Wal-Mart for $12. I just couldn’t put it down. I debated with my inner self if I should get it. As you can see, I ended up getting it. I figured I wouldn’t know how I would look in plaid if I don’t wear one, right? I’m not going to necessarily buy all sorts of plaid print clothing now. I don’t see myself wearing plaid shirts like Lauren Conrad or one of those Olsen twins. I have the a couple of skirts but that’s pretty much a given in any fashionista’s closet.

When I ventured onto the Kids’ section, I saw a plaid smocked dress which I thought would be perfect for my daughter.

Isn’t that cute? That’s $6. She and I are going to wear matching plaid dresses today. I will try to take some pictures to show you sometime this week how we looked. I’m getting really excited .

5 Places To Bargain Shop

When it comes to bargain shopping there are 5 places I could honestly tell you that I frequent a lot. I actually have more than that, maybe about 10 places to bargain shop but I’m only going to share with you the 5 places I mostly go to for bargain shopping.

CATO

CATO – I’ve only discovered CATO about 2 years ago actually. Before that, whenever I saw the commercials featuring beautiful dresses and tops I thought they were expensive. The first time I visited the store inside a mall I was surprised how reasonable the prices are. I could walk in there, grab 5-6 items and only spend about $50. That’s because I usually go to the clearance racks. The ones that aren’t on sale are still pretty affordable but I learned early on that if I wait at least 2 weeks, some of the items from the regular racks would be on the clearance racks with their respective sale prices. CATO has tops, dresses, jeans, shirts, shoes, accessories and even home decors. Plus Size line is also available. To describe CATO more clearly is by calling it the feminine, grown-up yet trendy version of Forever21. If you’ve ever thought that CATO is for old women I’m telling you now, you are wrong. 30’s is hardly old. Step inside one time, check out their clearance racks and I can assure you that you’ll be inside a CATO store every 2 weeks or so.

TJMaxx

TJMaxx is the quintessential place to shop for brand names in affordable prices. You will find brands like XOXO, Jessica Simpson, DKNY Jeans, Nine West, Unlisted, just to name a few. TJMaxx is similar to ROSS. They pretty much carry the same brands in good prices. I say the more stores like that, the merrier. I’m just hoping one of them doesn’t close like Goody’s which also carried the same brand items in bargain prices. The trick on finding really good stuff at TJMaxx is having patience. When you first enter the store, you’ll see racks right next to each other. It could get overwhelming even to someone like me who likes to dig for bargains. If you decide to go bargain shopping at TJMaxx I suggest you have a clear head, no rushed schedule, and are willing to dig, dig and dig even more.

Old Navy

OLD NAVY is one of my favorite go-to place for jeans. I’ve found other items there of course but I’m happy to say that Old Navy Jeans fit perfectly with my body. I’m blessed with curves and well-endowed bottom. Besides L.E.I and Levi’s jeans, ON Jeans fit me nicely. Old Navy fashion tends to be trendy as well but it has classic aspects to it. Of course you can’t ignore how affordable Old Navy clothing are too. It’s a perfect place for the whole family to shop at.

Wal*Mart

Wal-Mart — If you look beyond the name of Kathie Lee Gifford’s clothing line, you’ll be surprised to discover trendy and stylish items from Wal-Mart. Brands like No Boundaries, Metro7, GEORGE, and surprisingly, Levi’s as well. I have found many fashionable and affordable things from Wal-Mart through out the years. I’ve found dresses, tops, skirts, shorts, and shoes. And like I said, Levi’s jeans and jackets. I give Wal-Mart credit in paving the way for my flats obsession. For a long time I refused to by myself a pair of flats because I prefer heels but one day I saw a blue polka-dot flats for $7 and my flats love-affair sprouted like crazy ever since.

Payless

PAYLESS — This is THE shoe store where I buy my shoes all the time. I love the prices especially during the BOGO sale. What you see in the picture is just 1/3 of the pairs of Payless shoes that’s in my closet. And yes, I wear them all but not at the same time of course .

There you go, my favorite 5 places to bargain shop. I used my own pictures to show you proof that I actually do shop there and I’m not just blogging about them because it happens to be my job that I love. I hope you consider these places if you haven’t already. They’re the best places to shop at, recession times or not. All you really have to do is dig among the clearance racks and have a sense of what you like to wear to represent your style identity.

Kay Unger Bow-Waist Sheath Dress On Sale

I’ve discovered through the years that Kay Unger is one of my favorite designers when it comes to Ready-To-Wear styles. Her pieces are so stunningly effortless. Take for example this Kay Unger New York Bow-Waist Sheath Dress. It’s really simple and the style can be found anywhere pretty much anywhere by other designers these days but this Kay Unger dress exudes quality that’s just above the rest. The silhouette is stunning and the sheath is fitted to tie.

If you wear size 8 then you are lucky because it’s currently on sale for $95. The regular price was $270 so that sale price is an awesome deal. A sheath dress like this is perfect for any special occasion, or a date night dress.

A sexy pair of black stilettos, and a clutch, either in black, silver, or turquoise would complement this Kay Unger Bow-Waist Sheath Dress.

Recession Shopping : Hypnotik Black Tunic

The last top I found when I went recession shopping at the “going out of business” Goody’s store is this Hypnotik Black Tunic. It used to be $30 but I ended up paying only $9.96. It wish it was lower than that but oh well.

The sleeves are split with 2-button detail. The banded hem is the one that actually caught my attention at first. I’m looking forward to wearing this come Spring and Summer time. I’d probably wear it with a pair of jeans and heels or flats. I could wear it now but it’s still cold and I really don’t feel line wearing a coat over the top. I want to showcase the banded hem albeit it’s simplicity .

Recession Shopping : Ashley Judd Tops

When I bought my Ashley Judd white jeans from Goody’s the other day, I also found 2 cute tops from the Ashley Judd line. Goody’s is going out of business by the way. They’re selling everything with 50 to 70% off of the original prices. Go visit a Goody’s store near you and hope you find some items you like. Meanwhile, here are the 2 Ashley Judd tops that I found.

Ashley Judd teal smocked short sleeves with keyhole-tie top. It used to be $25 but I only paid $9.96. This teal top would look beautiful with the white jeans and any of my denim jeans for that matter.

Ashley Judd brown embroidered top. It used to be $30 but I only paid $11.96 for it. Another top for jeans or even shorts.

I wish the prices were lower since it’s a going out of business sale anyway, but oh well. I’ll see if I could dig for more when I go back there before Goody’s completely disappears. I hope you do as well .
