Every year after Christmas, I treat myself to a new calendar for my studio/office.  I found a gorgeous handbag calendar last year.  After all, if I can’t afford the latest Judith Leiber Miniaudiere - I can still enjoy how beautiful it is!

I’m going hunting today to track down my “perfect” calendar.  I’ve browsed online and have found several suitable candidates - but I’ll have to make my final decision once I actually have them in my hot little hands.

My top pick so far?  The “365 Days of Handbags” - I had the 2008 version of this calendar last year and I loved it:

I just couldn’t resist when I found this in the second-hand shop this morning:

Now, it’s not like I need more purses (heck, how many of us actually need a new purse??) but I saw those sparkly, beaded cherries and couldn’t put it down.

I have no clue who made this purse, and it’s not the sturdiest baby ever - but I’ll use it until the vinyl bottom cracks or the plastic handles fall off!

In honor of the Beauty & Style channel’s blog of the month, The Scented Life - we’re all getting together and writing about the favorites scents in our lives.

In no particular order…

•  Fresh baked bread - especially when I’ve baked it myself!
• Coffee - I can’t start my morning without it
• My vanilla spice bodywash from the Body Shop - you can only find it at Christmas, so my husband buys me enough for the entire year.
• Wet parrot - I know, this sounds weird, but a freshly bathed parrot smells lovely…
• Sheets, dried on the line - in June, when the wild roses are in bloom.

In the meantime - I just have to brag about my talented mom, Noreen - who’s just published a new book!

The book’s topic?  Accessories!

Well, actually - it’s belts, and I’m trying to figure out if I can ask Santa Claus for one of the belts for Christmas

I’m so excited - I got this in the mail yesterday:

I’ve been lusting after it for about six weeks on Etsy in Retro Kitsch’s shop and finally decided to treat myself :-)  It’s an eensy wee little beaded evening bag.  I don’t know anything about it other than it’s fairly old and has a “Made in Czechoslovakia” tag on the inside.

What can I say, I love vintage evening bags

I shared some of my favorite picks with you all when I was trying to track down a particular bird necklace.  I still haven’t found the perfect one, but I did find a charm with two birds sitting on a branch on it.  It’s got a little empty nest between them - they look forlorn somehow.

I decided to take matters into my own hands and glued three little robin’s egg blue beads into the nest.  I attached a plain silver curb chain to the ends.  I’m quite pleased with how it turned out!

I was so inspired by the color forecast that I had to get busy in my studio - want to see what I came up with?
