Bleach Black is an LA-based fashion blog that I read daily. Usually they feature a DIY project at least once a week, and most of the time, it’s something that I might actually want to make and wear, like a studded denim handbag for under $10. The projects they choose are usually embellishment-type projects (like the studs) rather than full-fledge clothing construction, which I appreciate, because it suits my attention span. There is a heavy high-low fashion component on this blog that will be satisfying to a lot of readers.

The About.com DIY Fashion pages are a great resource if you want to make something cute and quick(like the pillowcase skirt above), or if you need to figure out how to repair or alter something without too much fuss. The site is more like an archive, and there is little editorial voice, so this isn’t really a site you’ll want to read regularly, but it’s good to know about if you want/need to make something.

Six Six Sick is a blog out of NYC, written by girls who host a regular night at a popular hotspot. Every week, they show up in matching outfits, and the blog chronicles the construction of the garments and sometimes the reception. A lot of their posts are more about the girls’ fashionable lives rather than DIY fashion, but that’s pretty interesting, too. The DIY projects here are generally more sophisticated than average, but also more detailed. This is a great place to go to if you want to learn how to make clothes that look like high brow designs.
