Footwear has taken a turn for the… interesting during the Spring & Summer 2010 runway shows for Paris Fashion Week!
Of course, the big news is Alexander McQueen’s high heels – let’s face it, how could they not make an impression:
It’s certainly the most distinctive shoe from Paris this week. I have to admit, I do have a couple of questions…
First of all, can you actually walk in them?
And didn’t Christian Louboutin do these a few years back for a movie??
It took me a minute to realize that the decorations on these shoes from Louis Vuitton weren’t Muppets or small, furry …read more

Fall is party season. It’s the time when urban centers have the most cultural activity. There’s art openings, opera openings, and now, more than ever, people are opting for crisp fall weddings. Why? Well, things get a little less expensive when you veer away from the May/June wedding path. All these fall events deserve dresses, and as well all know, fall is a great time for fashion. It’s THE season we all look forward to, when dresses getter darker, more dramatic, and more elegant. Check out this gorgeous number by Alexander McQueen:

Alexander McQueen is known for his outrageous designs and fashionable flights of fancy. He seems to have been inspired by the natural world lately, with butterflies, wood grain and even cloud patterns making their way into his designs.
The description for this lovely high heeled pump calls the rich purple leather “conspicuously cloudy”. It’s got a hidden 3/4″ platform and matching leather-wrapped heels.
Go from the skies to the woods with this peep-toe platform. The nappa leather has been printed with a wood grain on nude leather, and accented with contrasting wood grain heels. Elastic straps over the heels ensure a comfortable …read more

Brides-to-be, luggage is one thing you’ll need for your wedding that you will use long after. Why? Your fancy wedding dress may come with its own fancy garment bag, but you are going to need so many dresses between the rehearsal dinner and the end of your honeymoon that you really will need a whole garment bag to carry them in. Trust me on this one.
This minimal and chic garment bag is the product of a legendary collaboration between British badboy Alexander McQueen and luggage manufacturer Samsonite. As an owner of several pieces of this collection, I can personally attest …read more
Hot New LBDs for Fall

Oh, the little black dress, could there be any article of clothing more classic and iconic? No way. But this season, the LBD is taking on new shapes, and it’s all about interesting draping and asymmetrical details. Even if you usually pass LBDs by with a blasé attitude, I think you’ll be surprised at how new this old standby can look.
Oh, Alexander McQueen, you little British bad boy, do you ever go wrong? Not in my opinion, and certainly not here. The classic Grecian draping we’ve seen for the past few seasons moves, in this dress, to the bottom, which …read more

One of the huge trends for Fall 2009 is the tough rocker chic vibe. It’s a blend of edgy and chic. As I covered with the tough rocker chic handbags, shoes are also getting a dose of studs, grommets, zippers and all out toughness. Boots are at the forefront this time around; they range from cute ankle booties to thigh-high versions and everything in between. Not to be out done, the heels are getting dolled up with zippers, studs and other fab details.

Are you one of those women who constantly worry about your purse being stolen?
Alexander McQueen’s latest purse combines his trademark edgy style with your own set of glittery “brass knuckles” (okay, they’re really crystal and metal knuckles) for a purse that’s combat ready.
Don’t believe me?
Hey, I did say that it was sparkly…
The clutch is made from oil-slick patent leather, with a metal frame and handle. It’s currently only available for pre-order, but there isn’t an expected arrival date on the website.

Spanish Lace Corseted Gown by McQueen

Alexander McQueen is hands down one of my favorite designers. Unfortunately, he doesn’t really “do” bridal. But just because he doesn’t desgin fluffy cupcake wedding gowns doesn’t mean that some of his dresses aren’t totally wedding ready. Check out this gorgeous Spanish lace corseted gown.
This beautiful and unusual gown would make an amazing statement as a wedding dress. I’m crazy for the scalloped, off-the-shoulder bodice with molded cups and boning. But the skirt is really what makes this dress special. The short cut in front shows off your legs, but the long back has a gorgeous sweep to follow behind …read more
