It’s certainly the most distinctive shoe from Paris this week.   I have to admit, I do have a couple of questions…

First of all, can you actually walk in them?

And didn’t Christian Louboutin do these a few years back for a movie??

It took me a minute to realize that the decorations on these shoes from Louis Vuitton weren’t Muppets or small, furry animals.

It’s okay, we can all relax – they’re just really big, fluffy orange tassels.

What do you mean, that doesn’t make you relax?

Junko Shimada is known for some extreme shoe designs – but when you look what’s come down the runway, square plastic soles are pretty tame:

And I actually quite like that little hit of lime green – it’s a great contrast to the slick black patent.

Chiffon Crinkle Gown by Alexander McQueen

The description for this lovely high heeled pump calls the rich purple leather “conspicuously cloudy”.  It’s got a hidden 3/4″ platform and matching leather-wrapped heels.

Go from the skies to the woods with this peep-toe platform.  The nappa leather has been printed with a wood grain on nude leather, and accented with contrasting wood grain heels.  Elastic straps over the heels ensure a comfortable fit.

My own personal favorite, this high heeled sandal reminds me of butterfly wings, wrapped around your feet.  Or maybe a rich art deco pattern… or those might even be flower petals?  In any case, the gold and black leather sandal will make a dramatic accent to a formal evening.

Alexander McQueen for Samsonite Garment Bag

Oh, Alexander McQueen, you little British bad boy, do you ever go wrong? Not in my opinion, and certainly not here. The classic Grecian draping we’ve seen for the past few seasons moves, in this dress, to the bottom, which creates an unusual and striking detail on this classic hourglass silhouette. The red violet belt and front drape detail add up to a modern, feminine approach to combining clean lines with soft shapes. Available for $1,495 from Net-A-Porter.

Jil Sander made this Techno crepe asymmetric dress with her classic minimalist flare. Wait, is minimalist flare an oxymoron? I think not, as this smooth, side heavy design proves. I love the soft drape of the neckline that allows the dress to rest lightly on the shoulders, and the way the cut drapes gently along the body. Available for $1,545 from Net-A-Porter.

Vivienne Westwood’s take on the classic cocktail dress is fashion forward in a major way. The heavily draped bodice gives way to a short asymmetrical skirt. The proportions of this dress subtly balance out the figure in an alluring, edgy way. Available for $460 from Net-A-Porter.
