Are you spending time on the beach, out at the lake or even just relaxing by the pool this summer?

Are you planning on taking your cell phone, MP3 player or even just a book with you?

Let’s think about what happens when sensitive electronics (or even just paper) get exposed to water, sand or even sunscreen.

Not a very pretty picture, right?

Luckily, there are options!

Packing your sensitive gear into a waterproof bag allows you to still enjoy it, but keep all those pricey goodies safe. And there are some really cute options too.

This small tote is actually designed for stashing your wet swimsuit in, but there’s no reason you can’t keep your cell in it instead.

This cute little train case has a waterproof liner and a terry cloth outside – I wouldn’t dump it in the pool, but it should keep your summer reading nice and dry.

The Beauty & Style channel is having a cancer-awareness month so I thought I really should join in! After all, you can protect yourself and shop for accessories – it’s the perfect combination

Sun hats are a great way to keep the sensitive skin around your face protected (and reduce wrinkles too!). The “Squishee” sun hat from Eric Javits is a breathable mix of cotton, rayon, vicose and nylon and is made in the USA!

Sunglasses are another must-have – they’ll help prevent premature aging, skin cancer and even cataracts. Make sure that your sunnies have both UVB & UVA protection though.

I just finished writing about winter hats to keep us warm, but I have to admit, I would rather be shopping for sunglasses. Well, in a couple of months I will be heading south for Christmas and it had better be warm!!

And these are one cool pair of sunglasses. No, lets say that they are one hot pair of sunglasses. I like the word hot a whole lot better!

I have to admit that I never really thought of a novel as an accessory until I stopped by The Fashionable Kiffen and noticed that Jacqueline had included it on her blog… after pointing out that the cover could quite easily match whatever you are wearing on the beach. Makes sense to me especially after reading that the book is “romantic comedy peppered with fashionable tidbits and the heroine wears tons of fabulous vintage.”

A few hours on a beach with something light and fluffy is just what I need on a regular basis!
