Wear your beret with long loose wavy hair and place it on your head at a little angle for a traditional look or centered for a modern look.  Push your hair forward and your beret back so it rests over the crown of your head.  Another option is to style it with the edges down so the beret sits around your head instead of propped up like a little plate sitting on the top.  You don’t need to go overboard with the Parisian look to pull this off…just think casual Fall cool and focus on pairing amazing bouncy hair with the beret.  I would wear with a peacoat, skinny jeans, and flat boots.

The beret is also my favorite hat for going out in the evening when the weather is cold…it is functional but looks great with a dressy outfit (think long-sleeved mini and opaque tights) and doesn’t mess up your hair when you get inside and want to take it off.  Here is fabulous stylist Rachel Zoe wearing a dressy modern beret:
