Dahlia Gem Stone Heels by Bourne

It’s really hard to find a pair of shoes that will not only work for your wedding day, but will also be fabulous to wear all year round.

If you’re really stuck on having white shoes, it might be a little harder on you, not because white shoes are bad, but they soil easily and are somewhat impractical. If you are willing to step outside of the bridal box for a moment and consider another neutral color, you might find some thing amazing like these gem-embellished pumps by Bourne. They have a little bit of that bridal look with the pale silk tone, but are a little bit out of the ordinary in pink and grey. The back of the shoes, though, is what makes them a real pair of showstoppers, and it would work equally well at your wedding, or at any special occasion. Available for $225 from Perfect Details.

If you’re totally bored with the idea of hiding your something blue, why do it? Make your something blue make a splash with a pair of fabulous shoes.

I love these Jimmy Choo Satin Platform Pumps, they have everything a wedding shoe should, a bit of satin and a bit of bling. The deep violet blue would pop at the foot of any gown, and would bring out the best in your pedicure. Available for $1, 095 from Net-A-Porter.

Cemeliaa Shoe By Steve Madden

Finding bridal shoes that are a)stylish and b)affordable is like finding that metaphorical old needle in a haystack. It’s easy to find a great pair of shoes for over $500, but when it comes to economizing, nothing says unnecessary expenditure like $500 shoes that you’ll only wear once. And with a lot of the discount lines, you get what you pay for: shoddy quality at a cheap price. But, thankfully, Steve Madden has come along to bridge the gap between style and budget consciousness with his new line of bridal shoes. Most of them are super classic, but some of them, like the Cemeliaa above have a little added edge. In this case, it comes in the form of an elegantly covered platform in knotted silk satin. I love the slightly boxy toe box, because it won’t get uncomfortable after hours of dancing. Available for $89 from Steve Madden.

Color Me Beautiful

Recently, I went to a wedding and the bride wore bright yellow peep-toe sandals.

They really made a statement, considering she was wearing a tea-length wedding dress. Many women are adding color on their wedding day with bright or metallic bridal shoes. How about you? Take our poll and let us know.

Trends in Bridal Shoes

With traditional floorlength bridal gowns, wedding shoes are usually kept simple. Now with many brides wearing tea-length and cocktail-length dresses, shoes are commanding more attention.
This fall and winter, no matter what your length of dress, eye-catching styles and colors will be popular in bridal shoes.
Chunky Heels
Simple covered high heels and kitten heels, step aside for chunkier heel styles. Brides are wearing everything from thick stacked heels to platform wedges.
Embellishments
Decorative accents on your wedding shoes, including rhinestones and other jewels finish off the couture look this season.
Burst of Color
Shoes in reds, plums and greens are becoming increasingly popular as brides match their wedding shoes with their bridesmaids’ dresses. Black bridal shoes are also trendy.
Contrasting Heels
Like Christian Louboutin’s signature red heels, many brides are choosing shoes which feature a contrasting heel color. Off-white shoes with jewel-toned heels, white heel pumps with black heels, and pastel shoes with coordinating bright heels are nice choices.
Patent Leather
Bridal shoes, particular peep-toe pumps, in patent leather are extremely popular this season. From black patent peep-toes to purple patent Mary Janes, the sleek shine of patent adds glamour to your wedding attire.

Check out the Vera Wang Spring 2009 Bridal Show. The video is in two parts and shows the whole show. As always with Vera Wang, the dresses are very sophisticated and unique. Some are elaborate and over the top, while others are classy and elegant. Which one is your favorite? I like the bridal gown at the 5:20 mark of part 1 and the one at the 1:27 mark of part 2.
